The aim of the Thesis is to develop the methodology for evaluation of application of climate-adaptive building solutions in reaching zero energy buildings. The Doctoral Thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters and conclusions. Chapter 1 reveals the current state of research of indoor microclimate effect on human productivity, energy efficiency measures in buildings and climate-adaptive building envelopes. Chapter 2 describes the methodology of performing assessments of indoor microclimate, multi-criteria analysis of climate-adaptive building envelopes and inverse modeling. Chapter 3 comprises the results of the study describing the discovered measurements, calculated performance outcomes, multi-criteria analysis and the output of developed system dynamics model. In the Thesis the following hypothesis was proposed: Climate-adaptive building solutions contribute to achieving a zero-energy building level while maintaining good indoor microclimate. Conclusions after measurements, tests and calculations confirm the proposed hypothesis.

Personal hygiene products are used on a daily basis by many people. Many are comparable to the Trojan horse. On the outside, they appear to be harmless. They are contained in attractive bottles and they rely on misleading ads to attract consumers. However, these products may contain potentially harmful chemicals and many people are unaware of how individuals, societies and environments are affected in the various stages of the life cycle of many personal hygiene products. Our STSE issue deals with an everyday product that falls under the Trojan horse analogy–lotion. We are concerned that our peers and other young adults are purchasing lotions without the knowledge of how they came to stand on the shelves of a store. We conducted a correlation study between gender and popular lotion brands among teenagers and the reasons behind their choices. We came to the conclusion that more females than males were interested in popular lotion brands due to enticing features that targets mainly feminine interests (e.g. scent is an aspect of lotion that more females than males consider when purchasing the brand). For our actions, we prepared an educational mind-map on our issue and a video compilation where we interviewed female students on their reactions to various lotion brand commercials. Our actions are meant to inform the public about the controversies surrounding our issue and the techniques companies use to gain the attention of potential consumers.

Evolution is continuous process of changes in structural and physiological mechanism in living being. Microbes/pathogens can evolve naturally or artificially and become resistant to various medicines. Novel coronavirus is such evolved pathogen of coronavirus group. Enough strong immunity is needed to prevent or survive from COVID-19 pandemic. Ayurveda provides ways for evolving physiological responses to built immunity. Present work is brief attempt to increase insight in this filed.Present review was done based on simple theory of evolution, recent updates regarding prevention of COVID-19, Ayurveda aspect toward infectious diseases and Ayurveda ways towards prevention of infectious diseases with special reference to COVID-19. Person with impaired immunity is more susceptible for COVID-19 and thus immunity is an important preventing factor. Ayurveda Rasayana (rejuvanation) herbs, Yoga exercises, Pranayama (special breathing exercise), daily regimens and personal hygiene guidelines can be helpful strategies in controlling the spread of COVID-19.The preventive aspects of pandemic situations are narrated in Ayurveda with enough details. These ways need to be scientifically explored and refined for precision. As prevention is always better than cure hence Ayurveda ways can be considered for future strategies to avoid pandemics such as COVID-19.  There is great need of research on Ayurveda medicines on COVID-19 like diseases.

Abstract: Pityriasis versicolor or better known as “panu” is a superfcial fungal infection characterized by changes in skin pigment due to Stratum corneum colonization by dimorphic lipophilic fungi from normal skin flora. Pitiriasis versicolor is an infectious disease that is estimated occur due to poor sanitation (personal hygine) and lack of clean water. This research was aimed to determine factors related to Pityriasis versicolor infection. It used retrospective design where researcher tried to looking back about the incident of Pitiriasis versicolor on 76 fshermen who choosen by using simple random sampling. Based on the result of reseach, it was determine that bath habit (p = 0,000), clothing hygiene (p = 0,839), towels cleanliness (p = 0,699), clean water supply (p = 0,000), home environment hygiene (p = 0,588), for p<0,05 then these factors were related to the occurrence of Pitiriasis versicolor infection on fshermen in Penjajap Village Pemangkat. Thus, it could be conclude that there was signifcant correlation between bath habit and clean water supply with the incidence of Pityriasis versicolor infection. While the cleanliness of clothing, cleanliness of towels, and cleanliness of the home environment is not associated with the incidence of Pityriasis versicolor infection.
