In this passage the Sausage-Seller is commenting disparagingly on the boast of Paphlagon/Cleon that he has done far more good for Athens (‘the city’) than Themistocles ever did. In lines 814–16 the Sausage-Seller seems to allude to certain laudable actions on the part of Themistocles, which greatly benefitted the city, and in 817–18, by contrast, he sets against these an allegedly deleterious recent proposal/ activity of Paphlagon/Cleon.

Recently in Bangladesh, frozen and ready-to-cook food industry is growing very fast due to high demand of these products by the city dwellers. This study aims at identifying the factors influencing the consumers’ perception about the frozen and ready-to-cook food products on Bangladeshi people.A survey was conducted among 211 frozen and ready-to-cook food consumers of Dhaka city with a structured questionnaire. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Factor analysis was conducted to identify the influencing factors related to the consumers’ perception about frozen and ready-to-cook food products. Regression analysis was accomplished to examine the impact of the factors on the overall consumers’ preferences of the processed frozen and ready-to-cook food products. Results show that the factors which influence the perception of the consumers about frozen and ready-to-cook food products are concerned with saving time, helpful and economic, low price, variety and good for health, brand image and quality, availability of the frozen foods, taste of the food, and attractive packaging of the food. Individual factor relationships show that the factors such as, saving time, the foods are helpful and economic, low price, variety and good for health, brand image and quality, and availability of the foods are significant and the factors such as, good taste of the food and attractive packaging of the food are not significant in the this study. This study suggests that the policymakers of the processed frozen and ready-to-cook food product manufacturers should give importance on these factors for increasing the demand of the products among the city dwellers of Bangladesh. Keywords: Consumers’ perception about fish, Meat and wheat-based frozen foods, Life style and taste preferences, Income of the people, Availability of the products, Easy to cook.

This chapter provides data on the beliefs, practices, and discourse about refugees and race beyond refugee resettlement and welfare agencies. It aims to provide a broader, richer context for refugee resettlement in Fargo by highlighting a spectrum of tensions between those who welcome refugees and those who do not. Primarily, it uses the lenses of race and sociality as markers of difference. In doing so, it is able to explain what tensions indicate about the structures within which resettlement work is done — for example, education, police, media, politics, and civil society, and a range of practices surrounding and shaping refugee resettlement in the city. It makes the case that diversity is good for a city, if not also difficult for the trailblazers who embody and support it.

Park-and-ride is a traffic management method of traffic congestion problem in urban areas. As an extent of total demand management, park-and-ride service (P&R service) has broadly implemented in many countries. P&R service has proven to be progressive in alleviating traffic congestion despite of complication in finding parking spaces in the city centers. The objective of this research is to discuss a model to shift car travelers’ to park-and-ride service (P&R service) and to investigate the factors which influence car travelers’ behavior. This study can support policy makers’ with useful information for future planning and development of park-and-ride service. Research outcomes will support policy-making and provide base for future study on modal choice behavior model for park-and-ride service.

This chapter explores the interaction of politics and business through the lens of the city. The power of business to influence politics in India would suggest that Indian cities are, in the classic sense of the term, growth machines. Yet the chapter argues that fundamental problems of governance in India’s megacities have precluded the possibility of business coalitions exerting cohesive influence over investment policies in cities. The result has been the predominance of what may be called cabals that are expert at extracting rents from the city, but in the end fail to promote development. High levels of growth have not been accompanied by commensurate expansion of the cities’ infrastructure and overall coordination capacities. In the end, what is good for business and politicians has been good for neither dynamic capitalism nor inclusion.

The park and ride (P&R) parking type is usually located near peripheral public transport stops. These parking places are dedicated to people who, after leaving their vehicle in the parking, continue their journey to the city center using some form of public transport such as bus, metro, rail or tram systems. This article aims to examine the features associated with P&R parking locations in use in Cracow (Poland). The analysis included the number of entries and exits to and from parking during particular periods of the day, week and year, parking time of vehicles, and parking space use. A parking peak hour factor was also calculated, which expresses the crowding degree of vehicle entries/exits in/out parking during a particular period. In addition, the paper presents an analysis of factors determining users to P&R parking use. In the modeling process, logit models were used, which, as stated after analyzing the literature on the subject, were already used in various countries around the world to describe the behavior of P&R parking users. However, so far, such research relating to Polish conditions has been not published in the available literature. The obtained results allowed to state that the most important factors determining the likelihood of using P&R parking in Cracow are age, number of years having a driving license, monthly income (gross), and an average number of trips made during a day. Other variables, which not included in the study, can influence the P&R parking use. However, the presented results are the basis for conducting furtherer, more in-depth analyses based on a larger number of independent variables that may determine the P&R parking use.

AbstractOperational performance of a small sawmill of the city of Alegre, Espírito Santo, Brazil. Sawmills are the most important wood industries in the Southern of the Espírito Santo State. The aim of this research was to analyze the operational performance of a small sawmill in Alegre, Espírito Santo state, Brazil, which process Eucalyptus sp. logs. The analysis was based on the study of lumber yield, operational efficiency and work delay ratio. The average lumber yield was 53.6% ranked as good for a small log hardwood sawmill, according to the literature. The average operational efficiency was 2.77 m³/worker/shift, and was ranked as low, even for small Brazilian sawmills, due to not classified logs, layout inadequacies, machinery bad conservation and low automation level. The average productive work was 69.6% and did not achieve the minimum rank of 75% suggested by the literature, because of the referred problems, and other ones. In general, for such sawmill the operational situation was considered poor, but it has potential to be improved. Keywords: Log breakdown; lumber yield; operational efficiency; productive work.

This paper seeks to build new park and ride facilities (including the location and size) as well as expand the old ones based on the super road network composed of the road network and mass rapid transit (MRT) network. Park and ride facility location model of the outskirts of the city is established grounded infusing path-based user equilibrium assignment model and multi-assignment method, which is based on minimal investments. The calculation results of the model show that park and ride facilities on the outskirts of the city can greatly reduce the road traffic in central area.
