The present study aims to evaluate the potential for the pollution of the environment by two herbicides (quizalofop-p-ethyl and cycloxydim), using the Allium test. The species in question is Allium cepa (onion, 2n = 16), one of the most common plant indicators of environmental pollution. The working method consisted of obtaining the meristematic roots of Allium cepa and their treatment with herbicides at three different concentrations (0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%) for each herbicide for 24 h, for comparison with an untreated control. The results obtained from the cytological study indicated a strong cytotoxic and genotoxic effect for both herbicides, but especially for quizalofop-p-ethyl, where the mitotic index decreased from 30.2% (control) to 9.6% for the variant treated with 1.5% herbicide. In this case, a strong mitodepressive effect was shown by a highly significant percentage (35.4%) of chromosomal aberrations and nuclear alterations: stickiness, fragments, C-mitosis, lobulated nucleus, micronuclei, and nuclear erosion. The mitodepressive effect as well as the percentage of chromosomal aberrations increased with a higher herbicide concentration. The obtained results suggest the strong potential for pollution of the two herbicides, particularly at concentrations higher than 0.5%; therefore, we recommend caution in their use to avoid undesirable effects on the environment.

Increasingly serious environmental pollution, trying to find a effective method to control NOx emission become more importance. Under this background, this paper adopts the naïve Bayesian classifier method which built on the basis of the probability density function to forecasting the NOx emission of diesel engine. This paper proposes a new approach to weight the super-parent one dependence estimators, and uses the UCI datasets to verify the validity of the proposed method. Finally, apply this diagnosis technology to the collected WD615 diesel engine data. The comparison experiments with other algorithms demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The process of developing methods for the economic assessment of environmental damage is subject to the requirements of world society, the policies of leading countries. The authors disclosed the existing approaches to the economic assessment of damage and showed the need for their development. The need for ecological rehabilitation of territories contaminated in past periods led to the creation and practical use of methods for the economic evaluation of past damage. The authors proposed a new approach to the economic assessment of past damage, which takes into account economic and assimilation factors. In addition, the article proposes a method for the economic evaluation of damage from emergencies, taking into account the cascading effects of the damage caused to the environment, the economy, the society and natural resources. The proposed method allows considering the indirect damages transmitted in the selected directions of the assessment taking into account the time factor.

AbstractWidespread corporate scandals involving corruption, environmental pollution, IP theft and food/product safety demonstrate that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has not yet taken root among Chinese business firms. One major reason is that Chinese managers view CSR as a foreign concept, an externally imposed set of rules, that fails to resonate with their internal worldview. This paper proposes a new approach to CSR based on ‘vital energy’ (qi) circulating within an organically integrated moral cosmos (dao)—a traditional Chinese ecological worldview that overcomes cultural barriers to acceptance, while simultaneously drawing on insights from contemporary behavioural economics and materials science. The paper provides Chinese conceptual tools to transform an externally imposed burden on business firms into an internally generated, ecologically situated, creative and productive corporate evolution.

The presence of trace elements in fuels with high vapor pressure, such as diesel oil, can cause several problems, such as the poisoning of automotive catalysts and environmental pollution; thus strict quality control is required.
