This article defines types of quality control and explores risk management strategies that are broadly applicable to any organization engaged in media digitization for long-term preservation. It uses the quality control system for audio and video digitization that was developed by Indiana University’s Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative to provide examples and illustrations of these ideas.

Abstract This study focused on the effects of external conditions on the performance of grass swales installed to improve stormwater runoff quality. Four grass swales in Beijing and Shenzhen with different underlying surface characteristics, antecedent dry weather period (ADWP), transport within the grass swales, and rainfall characteristics, were compared during 16 rainfall events in Beijing and six in Shenzhen, and were evaluated over two years. The results revealed that the impervious fraction of the catchment's surface below the swales influenced inlet pollutant concentrations, resulting in variations in their efficiency. ADWP, transport within the swales, and rainfall characteristics all had important effects on their efficiency in removing pollutants. With high pollution loads, long ADWP, and concentrated influent, the swales reduced pollutant concentrations significantly, particularly suspended solids.

Construction scale in colleges and universities of China are large, the cost is high, construction technology is complex, having to meet high requirements of security and green environmental protection. In reality, there are some issues such as the lack of interest people in the construction, and regulation is not in place; importance are only paid on results control, before and after quality control have been ignored; the quality of quality control personnel is low, who lack appropriate professional skills. Therefore, Chinese colleges and universities should make efforts to improve quality control staff's legal consciousness and sense of responsibility, and improve the quality management system, improve skills of staff quality management, improve the system of supervision and management strategies to strengthen the quality control of construction engineering.

AbstractIn this contribution, we introduce a generalized Kalman filter with precision in recursive form when the stochastic model is misspecified. The filter allows for a relaxed dynamic model in which not all state vector elements are connected in time. The filter is equipped with a recursion of the actual error-variance matrices so as to provide an easy-to-use tool for the efficient and rigorous precision analysis of the filter in case the underlying stochastic model is misspecified. Different mechanizations of the filter are presented, including a generalization of the concept of predicted residuals as needed for the recursive quality control of the filter.
