TEM, EDS and STEM were used to investigate distribution of Mo element in new CrMo steel ADF1 which is applied to 1300MPa high strength bolts with superior delayed fracture resistance. Research results reveal that Mo easily concentrates at grain boundaries. According to refined EDS point and mapping analysis, the region of Mo segregation at grain boundary is about several nanometers wide, and distribution of Mo along the grain boundary is not uniform. The average content of Mo at grain boundary is about double of that in grain area. Concentration of Mo can increase the bonding force of grain boundary, and this is of advantage to the improvement of strength and delayed fracture resistance of the new CrMo steel.

The delayed fracture resistance of pre-stressed concrete (PC) steel bar with different vanadium contents was investigated by using tensile sustained load delayed fracture test and optical microscope. The experimental results show that delayed fracture resistance of vanadium containing steels is higher than that of conventional steel 30MnSi at the same strength level and it increases with the increase of vanadium content. The improvement is resulted mainly from the irreversible traps for hydrogen and the prior austenite grain size refinement by vanadium carbide particles.

To investigate the effect of heat treatment on delayed fracture resistance of high strength steel, 30MnSi steel bars with different heat-treatments are produced. Tensile results showed that, the annealing and sub-temperature quenching steel bars have good delayed fracture resistance and satisfy the criteria that delayed fracture does not occur in 200 h, but there is a marked drop in delayed fracture resistance when the quenching temperature is higher than sub-temperature quenching
