Background The proliferation of technology galvanizes providers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to revolutionize health care and care delivery with diverse audiences. Digital health provides promise in improving health outcomes; however, the pace of technology requires rapid research to remain relevant in the marketplace. User experience (UX) research provides critical information about patient/client preferences while rigorous research trials demonstrate digital health efficacy. Despite the need for such research, the recruitment and enrollment process for digital health research remains time consuming and expensive, particularly when engaging underrepresented populations. Developed in the Colorado School of Public Health, the mHealth Impact Registry is a newly launched platform designed for rapid and responsive recruitment of participants for digital health research studies. While the use of registries in research is robust, the application in digital health research is quite limited. Objective This poster illustrates the development and testing of the mHealth Impact Registry’s Web-based platform, health status survey, mobile app, and participant database to reach underrepresented populations in digital health research. Methods Formative methods used a user centered approach to document user preferences for Registry design followed by iterative testing to ensure usability and navigability. Results End-user feedback was captured from multiple stakeholder groups (ie, Patient and Family Research Advisory Panel and mHealth Community Advisory Board) to refine recruitment strategy (ie, letters, video development). A health status survey was developed in both English and Spanish using the online software (ie, Qualtrics) that informs the back-end database. A detailed requirements document outlined technical and functional requirements for the mobile app (ie, iOS and Android) and Web-based platform (ie, Wordpress and Amazon Web Services). Conclusions Due to the need for rapid, rigorous, and inclusive research in digital health, a registry containing a pool of diverse participants would not only accelerate the recruitment and enrollment process but would also help to improve the reach and engagement of digital health solutions for underrepresented populations. The mHealth Impact Registry would house diverse participants, supporting quick enrollment and active participation in studies for which they are eligible. Improving the accessibility of participants and the speed of enrollment has promise in ensuring digital health solutions are relevant upon dissemination and commercialization.

Objective: To investigate the uptake and vaccination willingness of the COVID-19 vaccine among Chinese residents and analyze the difference and factors that impact vaccination. Methods: The snowball sampling method was used to distribute online questionnaires. Relevant sociodemographic data along with the circumstances of COVID-19 vaccination were collected from the respondents. The χ2 test, independent samples t test and binary logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: Among 786 respondents, 84.22% had been vaccinated. Over 80% of the vaccinated population have completed all the injections because of supporting the national vaccination policies of China, while the unvaccinated population (23.91%) is mainly due to personal health status. Meanwhile, statistical analysis revealed that the main predictors of not being vaccinated were younger age (3 to 18 years old), personal health status, and lower vaccinated proportion of family members and close friends (p < 0.05). Conclusions: There was a high level of uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine in China, and people who have not been vaccinated generally had a low willingness to vaccinate in the future. Based on our results, it suggested the next work to expand the coverage of the COVID-19 vaccination should be concentrated on targeted publicity and education for people who have not been vaccinated.

Objectives. This study aimed to assess the health status of a nationwide sample of elderly persons having arthritis and determine the prevalence of depressive symptomatology in this population. Methods. WebTV technology was utilized to administer health status and depression surveys to a nationally representative sample of 550 randomly selected older persons. Predetermined cutoff scores on Short Form-36 (SF-36) scale and Center for Epidemiological Scale for Depression (CES-D) were used to identify individuals with depressive mood. Results. Sixteen percent () of the respondents were found to be at risk for depression. Key associations among health domains of SF-36 and CES-D variables were statistically significant and were in the expected direction. Discussion. The risk of depression among older adults who have arthritis is moderate. A significant decline in multiple domains of health of older persons is likely when depression coexists with arthritis. Early screening for depressive symptomatology and prompt treatment should be an essential part of arthritis management in primary care practice.

IntroductionThe physical and mental health of nurses may significantly impact the entire medical care group and directly affect the quality of medical services. Due to the intense emotional involvement and often problematic working conditions that characterise their profession, nurses appear to be especially susceptible to a complex set of stressors with repercussions to their health. Several landmark studies of nurses have provided an abundance of evidence on risk factors that influence the health status of nurses. However, few studies have investigated the health status of nurses who work in high-intensity work environments in China. The National Nurse Health Study (NNHS) objective is to build an ambispective cohort to gather web-based information on early-life events, daily habits, occupational and environmental risk factors, and health outcomes of a specific subset of healthcare professionals of Chinese nurses.Methods and analysisNNHS, which was developed at a tertiary hospital in Beijing, China, is a research initiative that enrolls registered nurses working at Peking University Third Hospital. A web-based self-administered system was designed to collect health-related data and link them with previous physical examination data. During the study period, participants with signed informed consent will be invited to annually repeat a similar procedure.Ethics and disseminationThe NNHS research protocol was approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee and provides promising data that contribute to the understanding of pathophysiological links between early-life events, body composition, gut microbiota, and inflammatory and metabolic risk profiles. Moreover, the combination of a user-friendly tool with the innovative purposes of the NNHS offers a remarkable resource to test hypotheses about mechanisms of diseases, including work stress, and further plan preventive programmes in public health.Trial registration numberThe study was registered on Clinicaltrials.gov (https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04572347) and the China Cohort Consortium (http://chinacohort.bjmu.edu.cn/project/102/).
