We consider associative algebras filtered by the additive monoid ℕp. We prove that, under quite general conditions, the study of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of modules over a multi-filtered algebra R can be reduced to the associated ℕp-graded algebra G(R). As a consequence, we show the exactness of the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension when the multi-filtration is finite-dimensional and G(R) is a finitely generated noetherian algebra. Our methods apply to examples like iterated Ore extensions with arbitrary derivations and “homothetic” automorphisms (e.g. quantum matrices, quantum Weyl algebras) and the quantum enveloping algebra of sl(v + 1)

Many rings and algebras arising in quantum mechanics can be interpreted as skew Poincaré–Birkhoff–Witt (PBW) extensions. Indeed, Weyl algebras, enveloping algebras of finite-dimensional Lie algebras (and its quantization), Artamonov quantum polynomials, diffusion algebras, Manin algebra of quantum matrices, among many others, are examples of skew PBW extensions. In this paper, we extend the classical Ore and Goldie theorems, known for skew polynomial rings, to this wide class of non-commutative rings. As application, we prove the quantum version of the Gelfand–Kirillov conjecture for the skew quantum polynomials.

Apart from simple Ore extensions such as the Weyl algebras, the best known example of a primitive Ore extension is the universal enveloping algebra U(g) of the 2-dimensional solvable Lie algebra g over a field k of characteristic zero, see [4, p. 22]. U(g) is a polynomial algebra over k in two indeterminates x and y with multiplication subject to the relation xy – yx = y, and may be regarded either as an Ore extension of k [x] by the k-automorphism which maps x to x – 1 or as an Ore extension of k[y] by the derivation yd/dy. The argument suggested in [4, p. 22] to prove the primitivity of U(g) can easily be generalised [6] to show that, if α is an automorphism of the ring R then the following conditions are sufficient for R[x, α] to be primitive: (i) no power αs, s ≧ 1, of α is inner; (ii) the only ideals of R invariant under α are 0 and R. These conditions are necessary and sufficient for the simplicity of the skew Laurent polynomial ring R[x, x–1, α] but are not necessary for the primitivity of R[x, α] (the ordinary polynomial ring D[x] over a division ring D not algebraic over its centre is easily seen to be primitive).

AbstractThe problem of finding generators of the subalgebra of invariants under the action of a group of automorphisms of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra on its universal enveloping algebra is reduced to finding homogeneous generators of the same group acting on the symmetric tensor algebra of the Lie algebra. This process is applied to prove a constructive Hilbert–Nagata Theorem (including degree bounds) for the algebra of invariants in a Lie nilpotent relatively free associative algebra endowed with an action induced by a representation of a reductive group.

Abstract This is a general study of twisted Calabi–Yau algebras that are $\mathbb {N}$ -graded and locally finite-dimensional, with the following major results. We prove that a locally finite graded algebra is twisted Calabi–Yau if and only if it is separable modulo its graded radical and satisfies one of several suitable generalizations of the Artin–Schelter regularity property, adapted from the work of Martinez-Villa as well as Minamoto and Mori. We characterize twisted Calabi–Yau algebras of dimension 0 as separable k-algebras, and we similarly characterize graded twisted Calabi–Yau algebras of dimension 1 as tensor algebras of certain invertible bimodules over separable algebras. Finally, we prove that a graded twisted Calabi–Yau algebra of dimension 2 is noetherian if and only if it has finite GK dimension.

Abstract We present new examples of finite-dimensional Nichols algebras over fields of characteristic 2 from braided vector spaces that are not of diagonal type, admit realizations as Yetter–Drinfeld modules over finite abelian groups, and are analogous to Nichols algebras of finite Gelfand–Kirillov dimension in characteristic 0. New finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras over fields of characteristic 2 are obtained by bosonization with group algebras of suitable finite abelian groups.

AbstractLet 𝔮 be a finite-dimensional Lie algebra. The symmetric algebra (𝔮) is equipped with the standard Lie–Poisson bracket. In this paper, we elaborate on a surprising observation that one naturally associates the second compatible Poisson bracket on (𝔮) to any finite order automorphism ϑ of 𝔮. We study related Poisson-commutative subalgebras (𝔮; ϑ) of 𝒮(𝔮) and associated Lie algebra contractions of 𝔮. To obtain substantial results, we have to assume that 𝔮 = 𝔤 is semisimple. Then we can use Vinberg’s theory of ϑ-groups and the machinery of Invariant Theory. If 𝔤 = 𝔥⊕⋯⊕𝔥 (sum of k copies), where 𝔥 is simple, and ϑ is the cyclic permutation, then we prove that the corresponding Poisson-commutative subalgebra (𝔮; ϑ) is polynomial and maximal. Furthermore, we quantise this (𝔤; ϑ) using a Gaudin subalgebra in the enveloping algebra 𝒰(𝔤).

Differential difference algebras are generalizations of polynomial algebras, quantum planes, and Ore extensions of automorphism type and of derivation type. In this paper, we investigate the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of a finitely generated module over a differential difference algebra through a computational method: Gröbner-Shirshov basis method. We develop the Gröbner-Shirshov basis theory of differential difference algebras, and of finitely generated modules over differential difference algebras, respectively. Then, via Gröbner-Shirshov bases, we give algorithms for computing the Gelfand-Kirillov dimensions of cyclic modules and finitely generated modules over differential difference algebras.

AbstractWe examine situations, where representations of a finite-dimensionalF-algebraAdefined over a separable extension fieldK/F, have a unique minimal field of definition. Here the base fieldFis assumed to be a field of dimension ≼1. In particular,Fcould be a finite field ork(t) ork((t)), wherekis algebraically closed. We show that a unique minimal field of definition exists if (a)K/Fis an algebraic extension or (b)Ais of finite representation type. Moreover, in these situations the minimal field of definition is a finite extension ofF. This is not the case ifAis of infinite representation type orFfails to be of dimension ≼1. As a consequence, we compute the essential dimension of the functor of representations of a finite group, generalizing a theorem of Karpenko, Pevtsova and the second author.

Let [Formula: see text] be an untwisted affine Kac–Moody Lie algebra. The top of every irreducible highest weight integrable [Formula: see text]-module is the finite-dimensional irreducible [Formula: see text]-module, where the action of the simple Lie algebra [Formula: see text] is given by zeroth products arising from the underlying vertex operator algebra theory. Motivated by this fact, we consider zeroth products of level [Formula: see text] Frenkel–Jing operators corresponding to Drinfeld realization of the quantum affine algebra [Formula: see text]. By applying these products, which originate from the quantum vertex algebra theory developed by Li, on the extension of Koyama vertex operator [Formula: see text], we obtain an infinite-dimensional vector space [Formula: see text]. Next, we introduce an associative algebra [Formula: see text], a certain quantum analogue of the universal enveloping algebra [Formula: see text], and construct some infinite-dimensional [Formula: see text]-modules [Formula: see text] corresponding to the finite-dimensional irreducible [Formula: see text]-modules [Formula: see text]. We show that the space [Formula: see text] carries a structure of an [Formula: see text]-module and, furthermore, we prove that the [Formula: see text]-module [Formula: see text] is isomorphic to the [Formula: see text]-module [Formula: see text].
