We discuss the problem known in economics as backward dynamics occurring in models of perfect foresight, intertemporal equilibrium described mathematically by implicit difference equations. In a previously published paper [Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control 31 (2007), 1633–1671], we showed that by means of certain mathematical methods and results known as inverse limits theory it is possible to establish a correspondence between the backward dynamics of a noninvertible map and the forward dynamics of a related invertible map acting on an appropriately defined space of sequences, each of whose elements corresponds to an intertemporal equilibrium. We also proved the existence of different types of topological attractors for one-dimensional models of overlapping generations. In this paper, we provide an extension of those results, constructing a Lebesgue-like probability measure on spaces of infinite sequences that allows us to distinguish typical from exceptional dynamical behaviors in a measure–theoretical sense, thus proving that all the topological attractors considered in MR07 are also metric attractors. We incidentally also prove that the existence of chaos (in the Devaney–Touhey sense) backward in time implies (and is implied by) chaos forward in time.

Dynamical behaviors and control of planar crank–slider mechanism considering the effects of joint clearance and link flexibility are studied. A control scheme for maintaining continuous contact is proposed. It was observed that using one actuator for control scheme might cause the actuator to reach its saturation limit, a problem that was bypassed by installing an additional actuator on connecting rod. In one actuator case, only continuous contact can be obtained, while with the aid of two actuators, point contact can be achieved. Great improvements in the performance of mechanism and reduction of vibrations are observed in the case of using an additional actuator.

AbstractThis paper studies the dynamics of two fractional-order chaotic maps based on two standard chaotic maps with sine terms. The dynamic behavior of this map is analyzed using numerical tools such as phase plots, bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents and 0–1 test. With the change of fractional-order, it is shown that the proposed fractional maps exhibit a range of different dynamical behaviors including coexisting attractors. The existence of coexistence attractors is depicted by plotting bifurcation diagram for two symmetrical initial conditions. In addition, three control schemes are introduced. The first two controllers stabilize the states of the proposed maps and ensure their convergence to zero asymptotically whereas the last synchronizes a pair of non-identical fractional maps. Numerical results are used to verify the findings.

Aedes Aegypti is the key step to avoid infection transmission to save millions of people in all over the world. This paper provides a standard guideline in the planning of dengue prevention and control measures. At the same time gives the priorities including clinical management and hospitalized dengue patients have to address essentially.

As the four-wheel steering (4WS) system has great potentials, many researchers' attention was attracted to this technique and active research was made. As a result, passenger cars equipped with 4WS systems were put on the market a few years ago. This report tries to identify the essential elements of the 4WS technology in terms of vehicle dynamics and control techniques. Based on the findings of this investigation, the report gives a mechanism of electronically controlling the steering system depending on the variable pressure applied on it. This enhances the controlling and smoothens the operation of steering mechanism.
