Islamic economics based on specific concept of universe and the creation of man is contradictory to the concept adopted and accepted by modern science. Islamic economics postulates although ability and expertise is required for progress and growth but distribution of resources completely dependent on it would be cruel, inhuman and bereft of kindness, and lead to oppression. Islamic economics does not favor making human ability and expertise the fulcrum of resource distribution. It should be kind, considerate and based on justice and fairness. This is because according to Islamic philosophy, ownership is considered to be a trust from Allah which has been bestowed on the rich so that they may utilize it correctly. In Islamic economics the role of the individual, has inclinations and his aims and objectives occupy a central position and are vitally important. He is definitely a rational being but his level of rationality is not confined to the calculations of cost and profit. An individual does not want merely to obtain monetary profit and physical pleasure and leisure but he also wants and aims for something beyond what the material world has to offer. The main aim of the study is to find out the relationship between Islam and economics. In Islamic economics the comprehensive moral training of the individual, his technical and educational ability, his aims and his priorities are of primary importance. According to Islamic economics the means of acquiring wealth has the same importance as wealth itself. Dishonesty, abuse of trust and earning of wealth through fraudulent ways and means may perhaps increase the status of an individual but the society suffers because of it on the whole. This leads to an unjust and oppressive economic system.

This chapter aims to understand the phenomenon of leisure-time music activities from the perspective of musical agency. It explores how individuals’ and groups’ recreational practices involving music can be seen as a means for expanding their capacities for acting in the lived-in world. The exploration proceeds through theoretical and experiential accounts. It first draws on literature from general sociology, music sociology, and the sociology of music education in order to elaborate on the broader notion of agency, as well as the more field-specific concept of musical agency. It then explores various music-related agency modes through narrating the author’s own experiences of participating in, leading, and observing leisure-time music activities. The chapter aims to dissolve the binary opposition between recreational music production and music consumption. It argues that the two poles instead can be understood as inseparably intertwined venues for the constitution of agency, musical taste and music-related learning trajectories.

Museums play an important role to an area, especially in Yogyakarta, not only as a place where they keep historical, scientific, or artistic artefacts, but also as a tourism destination. Tourists from inside as well as outside of Indonesia come to these museums to educate themselves about Yogyakarta, which is famous as a “student city” and “cultural city”. However, visitors from overseas may get confused with the translation provided since many translation errors are found in the captions of museum displays. In this paper, I am going to identify, analyze and discuss the meaning based translation errors in Museum Sonobudoyo and Museum Kraton Kasultanan Ngayogyakarto Hadiningrat, and classify them to find out what most common mistakes the translators make are. After identifying and classifying the errors, the paper will move onto how to tackle the cultural-specific concept errors using note, a translation procedure by Newmark (1988) and translation steps by Larson (1998) for the non-cultural-specific concept problems.

Machine Learning field, methods based on Deep Learning (e.g. CNN, RNN) becomes the state-of-the-art in several problems of the multimedia domain, especially in audio-visual tasks. Typically, the training of Deep Learning Methods is done in a supervised manner, and it is trained on datasets containing thousands/millions of media examples and several related concepts/classes. During training, the Deep Learning Methods learn a hierarchy of filters that are applied to input data to classify/recognize the media content. In computer vision scenario, for example, given image pixels, the series of layers of the network can learn to extract visual features from it, the shallow layers can extract lower-level features (e.g. edges, corner, contours), while the deeper combine these features to produce higher-level features (e.g. textures, part of objects). These representative features can be clustered into groups, each one representing a specific concept. H.761 NCL currently lacks support for Deep Learning Methods inside their application specification. Because those languages still focus on presentations tasks such as capture, streaming, and presentation. They do not consider programmers to describe the semantic understanding of the used media and handle recognition of such under-standing. In this proposal, we aim at extending NCL to provide such support. More precisely, our proposal able NCL application support: (1) describe learning-based on structured multimedia datasets; (2) recognize content semantics of the media elements in presentation time. To achieve such goals, we propose, an extension that includes: (a) the new "knowledge" element describe concepts based on multimedia datasets; (b) "area" anchor with an associated "recognition" event that describes when a concept occurrences in multimedia content.

The study of mental representations of concepts has historically focused on the representations of the “average” person. Here, we shift away from this aggregate view and examine the principles of variability across people in conceptual representations. Using a database of millions of sketches by people worldwide, we ask what predicts whether people converge or diverge in their representations of a specific concept, and which kinds of concepts tend to be more or less variable.We find that larger and more dense populations tend to have less variable representations, and concepts high in valence and arousal tend to be less variable across people. Further, two countries tend to have people with more similar conceptual representations when they are linguistically, geographically, and culturally similar. Our work provides the first characterization of the principles of variability in shared meaning across a large, diverse sample of participants.

This article discusses the construction and representation of nature in the composition and performance of Meredith Monk’s song cycle “Facing North” by analyzing the quality of the performing voices, their physicality, and by bringing them into relation to the associations and contexts evoked by the songs’ titles. Based on voice and nature concepts in cultural studies, this article argues that this approach creates a very specific concept of nature, which is artistic and artificial at the same time. Through contextualising the concept of nature established in “Facing North” with a specific, gendered construction of nature as basis of a narrative of North American identity as depicted by musicologist Denise Von Glahn, it becomes evident how the composition and performance of “Facing North” at once accord with and oppose to a gendered concept of nature.

No Mediterranean city witnessed as dramatic a demographic shift as Salonica following the expulsion of the Jews from Iberia in 1492. This article explores the specific concept of placemaking in the context of this transformation, examining how the industries, devotional spaces, mythology, and material traditions of Iberian Jews tactically engaged with extant forms of Ottoman multicultural governance and social systems. Drawing upon a broad array of visual and textual information, this article argues that under the evolving mechanics of the millet and dhimmi systems, the nimbler aspects of material culture–color, fabric, dress, spoliation–proved to be the most effective in articulating and developing diasporic Sephardic identity within both the city and the empire. This article further analyzes the ways in which this identity was capable of, if not inclined to, the delimiting of regional, class, and gender groups, ultimately contouring and challenging notions of a monolithic minority culture within the Ottoman Empire from the sixteenth through the early nineteenth century.
