In this study, three-dimensional glucose/graphene-based aerogels (G/GAs) were synthesized using the hydrothermal reduction and CO2 activation method. Graphene oxide (GO) was used as a matrix, and glucose was used as a binder for the orientation of the GO morphology in an aqueous media. We determined that G/GAs exhibited narrow mesopore size distribution, a high surface area (763 m2 g−1), and hierarchical macroporous and mesoporous structures. These features contributed to G/GAs being promising adsorbents for the removal of CO2 (76.5 mg g−1 at 298 K), CH4 (16.8 mg g−1 at 298 K), and H2 (12.1 mg g−1 at 77 K). G/GAs presented excellent electrochemical performance, featuring a high specific capacitance of 305.5 F g−1 at 1 A g−1, and good cyclic stability of 98.5% retention after 10,000 consecutive charge-discharge cycles at 10 A g−1. This study provided an efficient approach for preparing graphene aerogels exhibiting hierarchical porosity for gas adsorption and supercapacitors.

Highly dispersed TiO2 nanotubes (TiO2-NTs) were synthesized via the reaction of anatase TiO2 powder with NaOH solution. Au nanoparticles of about 5 nm were deposited on the surface of TiO2-NTs with hydrothermal reduction method. The prepared nanocomposites were well characterized with TEM and XRD. Their photocatalytic properties and reducing ability were investigated by UV-Vis absorption and photocatalytic reduction of Cd2+ ions with different amount of TiO2-NTs and TiO2-NTs (Au) varying from 0.1g to 0.001g. The results from absorption patterns and AAS showed that the absorption intensity of TiO2-NTs (Au) was higher compared with that of TiO2-NTs. Moreover, the concentration of remanent Cd2+ (0.48mg/L) using TiO2-NTs (Au) was lower than that of Cd2+ (0.65mg/L) using TiO2-NTs.

Hexagonal Ni micro/nanoplates were successfully prepared via a facile hydrothermal route using the polyvinylpyrrolidone as structure-directing agent. It has been verified from x-ray powder diffraction and transmission electronic microscopy that as-prepared products with high purity and fine dispersity belong to face-centered cubic microstructure of nickel metal. The magnetic hysteresis loop of the hexagonal Ni micro/nanoplates exhibits the ferromagnetic characteristics, and its coercivity increases by 25 % in comparison with the bulk nickel materials. The possible mechanism of the formation of hexagonal micro/nanoplates was suggested.

ABSTRACTZnFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared by hydrothermal reduction approach. A considerable amount of α-Fe2O3 was segregated in the as-synthesized sample, which diffused into the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the ZnFe2O4 spinel structure with increasing the annealing temperature. The introduction of Fe3+ into the tetrahedral positions was observed by Mössbauer spectra. Magnetization measurements showed an unusual ferrimagnetic behavior of the ZnFe2O4 phase, even at room temperature, confirming the introduction of Fe3+ into the tetrahedral sites of the spinel structure. Catalytic activity measured in the oxidative dehydrogenation of 1-butene reaction increased with increasing annealing temperature, indicating that those interactions of Fe3+ in tetrahedral and octahedral positions also promotes the activity and selectivity to butadiene formation.
