Herein, nitrogen and sulfur codoped carbon dots (N&S CDs) were prepared by hydrothermal process and could be introduced as a fluorescent probe for determination of Cd2+, yielding high sensitivity and excellent selectivity.

Highly fluorescent glutathione stabilized Cu NCs were simply prepared in a one-pot manner. The Cu NCs can be applied as a robust probe for the determination of NO2− in real water samples with high sensitivity and good recoveries.
