A highly efficient coulometric cell was designed and constructed, ensuring a constant potential over the whole surface of the working electrode and suitable for very rapid electrolysis. It consists of concentric cylindrical Teflon parts; also the working and auxiliary electrodes are cylindrical and concentric. Electrolysis can be carried out under anaerobic conditions. Functioning of the cell was tested on the oxidation of hexacyanoferrate(II) and chlorpromazine and reduction of hexacyanoferrate(III). The new cell is suitable for routine quantitative analyses and in studying the mechanism and kinetics of moderately rapid chemical reactions.

This chapter presents the main techniques to incorporate the effects of external and/or internal forces within the LB formalism. This is a very important task, for it permits us to access a wide body of generalized hydrodynamic applications whereby fluid motion couples to a variety of additional physical aspects, such as gravitational and electric fields, potential energy interactions, chemical reactions and many others. It should be emphasized that while hosting a broader and richer phenomenology than “plain” hydrodynamics, generalized hydrodynamics still fits the hydrodynamic picture of weak departure from suitably generalized local equilibria. This class is all but an academic curiosity; for instance, it is central to the fast-growing science of Soft Matter, a scientific discipline which has received an impressive boost in the past decades, under the drive of micro- and nanotechnological developments and major strides in biology and life sciences at large.

Arylazoimidazoles are important dyes which were intensively studied in the past. In contrast, triarylazoimidazoles (derivatives which carry aryl substituents at the imidazole core) received almost no attention in the scientific literature. Here, we report a new family of simple and easily accessible triarylazoimidazole-group 12 metal complexes, which feature highly efficient photo-luminescence emission (Φ up to  0.44). Novel compounds exhibit bright red emission in solution, which could be excited with a visible light.

Heterocyclic molecules incorporating fluorinated isoquinoline components are found in many medicinally and agriculturally important bioactive products as well as industrially impactful materials. Within the past decade, a variety of isoquinolinic ring assembly techniques has enabled the introduction of diverse fluorine-containing functionalities which can enhance potential bioactivity and industrial utility. This review examines recent noncatalyzed and transition metal catalyzed synthetic approaches to the assembly of isoquinoline derivatives that are ring-fluorinated and/or result in the incorporation of fluorine-containing functional groups. Specifically, efficient synthetic methods and regioselectivity in the incorporation of functional groups into isoquinoline ring systems are examined.

AbstractIn this report, we described the synthesis and characterization of a variety of diaminotriarylmethane derivatives with dimethylamino functional groups. These compounds were synthesized by the tandem regio-selective electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction of N,N-dimethylaniline with aryl aldehydes to form the corresponding diaminotriarylmethane compounds. In our strategy, Bi(NO3)3 was used as a catalyst under solvent free conditions to afford the desired products in good to excellent yields.

A simple and mild catalytic SN2′ substitution reaction of propargyl acetates with organoaluminum reagents is reported. The SN2′ substitution reaction of propargyl acetates with organoaluminum reagents mediated by Pd(PhP3)2Cl2 (1 mol%)/PPh3 (2 mol%)/K2CO3 in tetrahydrofuran at 60 °C for 3–4 hours afforded the corresponding multi-substituted allenes in good yields (up to 94%) with high selectivities (up to 99%). The process was simple and easily performed, which offers an efficient method to synthesize the multi-substituted allene derivatives.
