This paper discusses the findings of a case study that uses neuro-fuzzy tool to classify and predict Electrical engineering students graduation achievement based on mathematics competency. In this study, achievement upon graduation and mathematics grades were classified as the key performance index. It's based on longitudinal progress and cross validation model on two mathematics subjects, semesters’ performance, and graduation achievement of electrical students. The outcomes indicated that there is a correlation between mathematics competency with electrical engineering performance, and it’s interesting to note that weak and satisfactory students in mathematics are not able to achieve first class upon graduation, and yet there is small percentage of excellent and good students in mathematics couldn’t graduate with high achievement. The findings conclude that the combination of statistical analysis and machine learning can help us to extract knowledge and enable university management to help low achievers at early stage. It’s hoped that the findings can help faculty management to review mathematics curriculum with respect to increasing range of engineering field.

Building a solid foundation of conceptual knowledge is critical for students in electrical engineering. This case study explores the use of simulation videos to illustrate complicated conceptual knowledge in foundational communications and signal processing courses. Students found these videos to be very useful for establishing concepts, understanding course content and increasing general knowledge in electrical engineering. We hope that the findings can help inform instructors of electrical engineering to transform their teaching practice and eventually benefit students through building a solid conceptual understanding that fosters the development of further engineering competencies.

The current context of rapid evolution of IT technologies and devices (Information Technology) imposes changes in engineering education. Education for the development of creativity becomes a requirement. This paper presents a new concept for the development of creativity by introducing an optional homework for Applied Electronics students, the final year of undergraduate studies. The homework requires electronic design of an application in the field of art of each student's diploma project. The paper presents the results of this initiative and the analysis of students' feedback. A statistical pilot study was organized that highlighted students' opinions about creativity as well as students' reasons for doing or not doing the optional homework.

This paper presents the main features of a study carried out by the higher education authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for developing a practical framework for formulating and assessing learning outcomes in electrical engineering education. The proposed learning outcomes were based on a compilation of different international accreditation frameworks. The formulated learning outcomes were grouped into four learning areas: (1) engineering sciences, (2) engineering analysis and investigation, (3) engineering design and (4) engineering practice. The paper also presents the main elements of a proposed standardized exit exam to test the developed learning outcomes. A table of specification was constructed that maps the developed learning outcomes with the test questions distributed over various learning levels. It allows the transformation of the developed learning outcomes into balanced questions to be used in an exit exam. The paper also discusses the implications of the proposed exit exam on electrical engineering education, and presents the results of a trial exam carried out recently.
