Purpose This paper aims to analyse innovation models and interdisciplinarity in science, technology and innovation (STI) policy in Costa Rica between 2015 and 2021. The core focus is to evaluate the public policy in light of the groundwork that sustains the designed and proposed actions. Design/methodology/approach The authors applied a qualitative approach to build a set of dimensions and conducted content-analysis of selected documents. The analysis encompasses all current STI public policy documents in Costa Rica, including the planning instruments of the Central Government and the National Policy on STI. Findings The main findings show that STI policy in Costa Rica is based on different innovation models, but the projects and instruments themselves show the predominance of the reductionist model. Innovation receives a residual role. In turn, interdisciplinarity is based on the concept of convergence, which limits disciplinary collaboration to the natural, physical and engineering sciences, minimising contributions from other fields of knowledge to an instrumental role in innovation processes. Practical implications The authors conclude that the interlinkage between open innovation models, the participation of diverse societal actors and the inclusion of an interdisciplinary perspective leads to inclusive and more democratic public policy, allowing more sectors and organisations to benefit from innovation processes. This would imply a greater reach and impact of the policy, conditions that translate into innovation achievements and a better return on public investment. Originality/value This paper contributes to current discussions on STI policy by studying the implications of the link among policies, innovation models and interdisciplinarity.

Abstract The reuse of research software needs good documentation, however, the documentation in particular is often criticized. Especially in non-IT specific disciplines, the lack of documentation is attributed to the lack of training, the lack of time or missing rewards. This article addresses the hypothesis that scientists do document but do not know exactly what they need to document, why, and for whom. In order to evaluate the actual documentation practice of research software, we examined existing recommendations, and we evaluated their implementation in everyday practice using a concrete example from the engineering sciences and compared the findings with best practice examples. In order to get a broad overview of what documentation of research software entailed, we defined categories and used them to conduct the research. Our results show that the big picture of what documentation of research software means is missing. Recommendations do not consider the important role of developers whose documentation takes mainly place in their research articles. Moreover, we show that research software always has a history that influences the documentation.

The increasing number of vehicles ownership among the Hasanuddin University academic community resulted in increased demand for parking facilities; considering it is an integral part of the transportation system, the steep demands causing parking disorganize as seen in the parking facilities of the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Pharmacy. This study attempts to propose a parking spaces rearrangement that could describe the effective capacity of parking area from the standpoint of the building layout planning and the parking spaces needs of the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Hasanuddin Tamalanrea Makassar. Using descriptive quantitative research method in analyzing the characteristics of parking to determine the capacity of parking, parking volume, accumulated parking, parking usage levels, and the need for parking of the two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles entered and exited the parking area for five working days; starting at 06:30 AM until 17.30 PM, resulting a concept of an effective parking spaces rearrangement that encompassing the three faculty of Hasanuddin University (faculty of Engineering, Sciences, and Pharmacy) by recommending the incorporation of several of the parking lot into a four-wheeled vehicle parking areas and centralized parking facilities for two-wheeled vehicles.

A new inverse family of the iterative method is interrogated in the present article for simultaneously estimating all distinct and multiple roots of nonlinear polynomial equations. Convergence analysis proves that the order of convergence of the newly constructed family of methods is two. The computer algebra systems CAS-Mathematica is used to determine the lower bound of convergence order, which justifies the local convergence of the newly developed method. Some nonlinear models from physics, chemistry, and engineering sciences are considered to demonstrate the performance and efficiency of the newly constructed family of inverse simultaneous methods in comparison to classical methods in the literature. The computational time in seconds and residual error graph of the inverse simultaneous methods are also presented to elaborate their convergence behavior.

A field experiment was conducted at the experimental fields in the collage of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, Iraq during the period from mid. March 2019 to to end of July 2020. The main objective was to find out the effect of humic acid (HA) concentration (0, 1, 2 and 3 cm3.L-1) and three stages of foliar application (vegetative, growth, flowers buds emergence and 50% flowering) on seeds yield and its components of alfalfa local variety. Layout of the experiment was R.C.B.D arranged in split-plot, with three replications. Foliar application stages were used as main-plots, while humic acid concentrations were used as sub-plots. Results showed that spraying of HA at conc. 3 cm3.L-1 resulted in a significant increment in number of florets per raceme and number of pods per raceme, in contrast, % of florets abortion in and 1000 seeds weight were not significantly influenced by HA conc. and spraying stages. Highest number of the stems.m-2, number of racemes per stem, seed set and seeds yield (441.0) Kg.ha-1 were obtained from plants sprayed with HA at conc. 3 cm3.L-1. Plants sprayed at vegetative growth produce highest number of stems.m-2 number of raceme per stem, number of seeds per pod and seeds yield (423.6) Kg.ha-1. There was high positive correlation between seeds yield and each of, number of stems.m-2, number of pods per raceme and number of raceme per stem (+0.88**, +0.70** and +0.82**) respectively. There was a significant interaction between HA concentration and spraying stages on seeds yield. The higher seeds yield (485.) Kg.ha-1 was obtained when alfalfa plants were sprayed with HA at the conc. of 2 cm3.L-1 in vegetative growth.

In this study, we successfully apply Hirota’s bilinear method (HBM) to retrieve the different wave structures of the general [Formula: see text]th dispersionless Dym equation by considering the test function approaches. The studied model is used to describe the dynamics of deep water waves. We formally retrieve some novel lump periodic, some other new interaction, and breather wave solutions. Moreover, the physical behavior of the reported results is sketched through several three-dimensional, two-dimensional and contour profiles with the assistance of suitable parameters. The acquired results are valuable in grasping the elementary scenarios of nonlinear fluid dynamics as well as the dynamics of engineering sciences in the related nonlinear higher-dimensional wave fields. The gained results are checked and found correct by putting them into the governing equation with the aid of Mathematica. Thus, our strategies through the fortress of representative calculations give a functioning and intense mathematical execution for tackling complicated nonlinear wave issues.
