Realisation of “Smart city” concept is connected with introduction of activities as to increase in energy efficiency and resource saving in the area of electric utility industry, including for the account of applying renewable energy sources (RES). Introduction of concept elements is economically justified not only in big megapolises, but in minor residential areas, as well. Notwithstanding the growth in power production with the employment of sun and wind technologies, the share of RES-based power generating plants in Russia, remains inconsiderable and amounts to approximately 0.1% of the total registered output of country’s power sources. Development of this perspective sphere is mainly carried out in those Russian regions where diesel fuel is used at very high potential capacities of the sun and wind power. Projects as to RES development in Russia are economically substantiated for isolated power-engineering systems, their introduction allows to cut consumption rate of expensive diesel fuel which is environmentally unfriendly. The estimates as referred herein, evidence a necessity to substitute elements of power-generating equipment of diesel-powered plants with solar-power farms. Development of renewable energy-generating industry in the country must be facilitated, by accelerated introduction of this resource in the regions with autonomous power-supply, where RES provides a fairly good economic effect.

This critical review report highlights the enormous potentiality and availability of renewable energy sources in the Gulf region. The earth suffers from extreme air pollution, climate changes, and extreme problems due to the enormous usage of underground carbon resources applications materialized in industrial, transport, and domestic sectors. The countries under Gulf Cooperation Council, i.e., Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, mainly explore those underground carbon resources for crude oil extraction and natural gas production. As a nonrenewable resource, these are bound to be exhausted in the near future. Hence, this review discusses the importance and feasibility of renewable sources in the Gulf region to persuade the scientific community to launch and explore renewable sources to obtain the maximum benefit in electric power generation. In most parts of the Gulf region, solar and wind energy sources are abundantly available. However, attempts to harness those resources are very limited. Furthermore, in this review report, innovative areas of advanced research (such as bioenergy, biomass) were proposed for the Gulf region to extract those resources at a higher magnitude to generate surplus power generation. Overall, this report clearly depicts the current scenario, current power demand, currently installed capacities, and the future strategies of power production from renewable power sources (viz., solar, wind, tidal, biomass, and bioenergy) in each and every part of the Gulf region.

This paper gives a review of energy scenario in India and other countries. Today’s demand of the world is to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, during the production of electricity. Henceforth over the world, the production of electrical power is changing by introducing abundantly available renewable energy sources like sun and wind. But, because of the intermittent nature of sustainable power sources, the electrical power network faces many problems, during the transmission and distribution of electricity. For resolving these issues, Electrical Energy Storage (EES) is acknowledged as supporting technology. This paper discusses about the world electrical energy scenario with top renowned developed countries in power generation and consumption. Contribution of traditional power sources changed after the introduction of renewable energy sources like sun and wind. Worldwide Agencies are formed like International Energy Agency (IEA), The Central Intelligence Agency, (CIS) etc. The main aim of these agencies is to provide reliable, affordable and clean energy. This paper will discuss about the regulatory authority and government policies/incentives taken by different countries.  At the end of this paper, author focuses on obstacles in implementation, development and benefits of renewable energy.

The high cost of energy supplies as well as the concern over the availability of oil have brought much pressure on many countries to search for renewable energy sources, especially after the oil crisis in 1973. Vegetable oil fuels such as palm oil fuel provide one of the alternative forms of energy that are currently being studied, particularly as a diesel fuel substitute. The purpose of this note is to review the potential of palm oil as an alternative fuel in automotive and industrial diesel engines with respect to its performance and tribological, environmental, economic and social implications.

According to experts’ forecasts, by 2040 the global demand for energy will increase by 37%, and renewable energy sources in the next 20 years will become the fastest growing segment of the world energy, their share in the next decade will grow by about one and a half times. Solar energy is the fastest growing industry among all non-conventional energy sources and is gaining the highest rates of development in comparison with other renewable energy sources. In this article, the authors provide an overview of the technologies that increase the efficiency and productivity of solar panels, only the investigated methods are described that can speed up the process of introducing solar energy instead of traditional. All the methods described can increase the efficiency of systems that are based on the use of the sun as the main source of energy. The authors presented and described the scheme of a solar-air thermal power plant, which will improve energy efficiency through the use of a regenerative air solar collector with increased heat transfer efficiency. Strengthening will be achieved through the use of hemispherical depressions on the surface that receives solar radiation. A schematic diagram is given and the principle of operation of such a solar collector is described in detail. A comparative calculation of the intensification of the solar collector with the use of depressions and without the use as modernization was carried out, on the basis of which a conclusion was made about the efficiency of using this type of solar collector and the economic effect from the application of this method. A description of the method for calculating the solar collector is given, thanks to which this development can be used and implemented in existing heating and hot water supply systems.

A non-sustainable wellspring of energy is for the most part non-plentiful in nature and can be utilized until they exist in plenitude. As and when the acknowledgment of the decrease of the bountiful assets and natural risks hit, an auxiliary idea of use of non-pollutable-sustainable power sources shows up into place. Different vulnerabilities as for the plan and supplies of a vehicle emerge with less or weakened association of the sustainable assets. A few vulnerabilities will emerge from the capital venture part and extents from the general population and private segments. Another challenge is the contribution of the innovation to travel the flow ordinary vehicles to electrical vehicles (EV) and to coordinate the renewable energy sources (RES), for example, wind-vitality, sunlight-based photovoltaics, and differing assortments of bio-energies to constantly work according to the prerequisite to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG). This chapter deals with the integration and charging challenges and strategies, coordination of vehicles, demand integration, and solutions to them.

Currently, Vietnam‘s energy source structure is being changed by which renewable energy sources play more important role to meet the electricity demand and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil energy sources. Vietnam’s energy development strategy determines to build some renewable energy centers, of which Ninh Thuan is the first province designated to become a national renewable energy center. This is based on Ninh Thuan’s endowment as a province having the largest renewable energy potential in Vietnam. Development of a large renewable energy center allows power system planners to overcome the mismatch in timescales associated with developing transmission power grid and renewable energy generation. Besides, renewable energy center can facilitate a significant pipeline of large-scale renewable energy and storage projects. However, Ninh Thuan province is far away from the major load centers of Vietnam so the calculation and analysis of economic indicators need to be studied. This paper will present the results of the analysis of economic indicators of major renewable electricity sources in Ninh Thuan (onshore wind power, offshore wind power, solar power) to provide scientific arguments for developing a renewable energy center in Vietnam. Also the paper addresses the problem of the large-scale penetration of renewable energy into the power system of Vietnam. The proposed approach presents the optimization of operational decisions in different power generation technologies as a Markov decision process. It uses a stochastic base model that optimizes a deterministic lookahead model. The first model applies the stochastic search to optimize the operation of power sources. The second model captures hourly variations of renewable energy over a year. The approach helps to find the optimal generation configuration under different market conditions.

In distribution power grids supplied by dispersed power sources, for example RES (Renewable Energy Sources), in the event of a load dump, unexpected transient states may appear. These states involve a dangerous increase in voltage or current. This situation may lead to the disconnection of these sources. To prevent this phenomenon, a non-linear anti-windup regulator with a conditional integrator has been proposed. This solution allows a significant improvement of the generator’s dynamic properties both at load dump and on return to full load.
