This study aimed to determine the composition and catch rate of folded cube fish pots in the seawater of the Tuban Regency. The research was conducted in December 2018 located in the Sokorejo, Tuban Regency, using 30 units of folded cube fish pots with a size of 50x50x50 cm2. The cube folded trap installation was done in 10 times of catch trip and installed in the morning. The catches were collected, identified, and measured for their individual length and weight. The crabs were measured for the length and width of their carapace. The catching result of folded cube fish pots was classified into five types which are fish group (48.97%), crabs group (29.59 %), swimmer crabs (7.1%), Land hermit crab (6.12%), and mud snails (8.16%). The result showed that Two-spined Arm Swimming Crab (Charybdis anisodon) was the most dominant type of catch equal to 29.59% of the total catch, while other types of catch that were quite common are Pig Faced Leather Jacket (Paramonacanthus choirocephalus) (9.18%), and Crescent Pearch (Terapon jarbua) (8.16%). The average catch rate for folding cube was 32%/trip with a weighted average catch of 436.58 gr/trip.

Kepadatan stok ikan merupakan indikasi dari potensi perikanan di suatu wilayah yang sangat penting diketahui. Tujuan tulisan ini membahas tentang laju tangkap, kepadatan stok dan perkiraan biomassa ikan demersal serta udang. Penelitian sumber daya ikan demersal dan udang di Samudera Hindia Barat Sumatera dilakukan dengan menggunakan Kapal Riset Baruna Jaya IV (1.200 GT) pada bulan Oktober dan November 2015 (Musim peralihan II). Penghitungan kepadatan stok menggunakan metode sweept area dengan panjang tali ris atas dari jaring trawl 36 m, kecepatan kapal saat menarik jaring berkisar 2,5 – 3 knot, lama penarikan jaring maksimal 1 jam. Perairan Samudera Hindia Barat Sumatera terdiri dari 151 spesies yang tergolong dalam 59 famili. Famili ikan demersal yang dominan tertangkap (5 besar), yaitu Leiognathidae sebesar 23,6 %, Trichiuridae 9,8%, Haemulidae 8,0%,  Engraulididae 6,6%, dan Polynemidae 6,05%. Famili udang yaitu Penaeidae (79,08%), Scyllaridae 19,49%, dan Solenoceridae 1,43%. Rata-rata laju tangkap ikan demersal 205,80 kg/jam, dengan kepadatan stok 6,66 ton/km2 dan udang 2,30 kg/jam dengan kepadatan stok 0,053 ton/km2. Biomassa ikan demersal diperkirakan sebesar 470.122 ton dan udang 3.706 ton.  Fish stock density  is an index of stock abundance indicating the fish resources potential in a region.  This paper discusses the catch rate, stock density and biomass estimates of the demersal fish and shrimp resources. Research on the demersal fish and shrimp resources in the Indian Ocean-Western Sumatera conducted using the Research Vessel Baruna Jaya IV (1200 GT) carried out during  October and November 2015 (2nd intermonsoon season). Stock density was estimated through the swept area method. The trawl used has 36 m headrope, trawling speed of 2.5 - 3 knots, and maximum towing time was 1 hour. It was found that the fish resources in the waters of the Indian Ocean-Western Sumatera consisted of 151 species belonging to 59 families. The top five dominant fish families caught were Leiognathidae of 23.6%, Trichiuridae 9.8%, Haemulidae 8.0%, Engraulididae 6.6%, and Polynemidae 6.05%, while the shrimp families were Penaeidae of 79.08%, Scyllaridae 19.49%, and Solenoceridae 1.43%. The average catch rate of demersal fish was 205.80 kg/hour, with a stock density of 6.66 tons/km2 and shrimp of 2.30 kg/hour with a stock density of 5.3 kgs/km2. The estimated biomass of demersal fish was  470,122 tons and shrimp was 3,706 tons.

The multiplicative model described by Robson can be used to obtain estimates of annual standardized catch rate and its variance by including years in the model. The corresponding estimate of standardized effort is the ratio of the total catch and the estimated catch rate. If the error is assumed to be lognormally distributed then these estimators have well defined statistical properties.Key words: effort standardization, catch rate, multiplicative model, stock assessment

В работе рассмотрен процесс формирования производственных издержек в трех различных сценариях промысловой обстановки, описаны издержки, возникающие в каждом из сценариев. Выполнена оценка вероятности наступления того или иного сценария промысловой обстановки. Сформулирован подход к определению средневзвешенных издержек судна. Сформулирован подход для определения средневзвешенного улова судна на основании многолетних данных о добыче промыслового объекта. Данная оценка может быть использована при планировании работы добывающего судна. Полученные значения средневзвешенных затрат подсистем «добыча» и «обработка» производственного процесса на добывающем судне, а также средневзвешенное значение суточного вылова использованы в задаче оптимизации режима обработки суточного вылова с условием минимизации затрат. Приведен пример расчет среднесуточного вылова и решение оптимизационной задачи для промыслового объекта сардина иваси. The paper considers the process of forming production costs in three different scenarios of the fishing situation, describes the costs arising in each of the scenarios. The probability of occurrence of a particular scenario of the fishing situation is estimated. An approach to determining the weighted average costs of a vessel is formulated. An approach is formulated to determine the weighted average catch of a vessel based on long-term data on the production of a fishing object. This assessment can be used when planning the operation of a mining vessel. The obtained values of the weighted average costs of the subsystems "production" and "processing" of the production process on the producing vessel, as well as the weighted average value of the daily catch, are used in the task of optimizing the processing mode of the daily catch with the condition of minimizing costs. An example is given of calculating the average daily catch and solving the optimization problem for the sardine ivasi fishing object.

The present investigation was conducted from May to December 2005 at Kumira, the representative area of Chittagong coast for bio-socioeconomic analysis of ESBN fishery. In catch composition of Kumira, it was observed that finfish occupied 77.03 %, shrimp 19.82 % and crab 3.15 % and the average catch per boat per day were found 16.6 kg in Kumira. The highest total catch per boat per day (50 kg) was found in October at Kumira. The lowest catch was found (2 kg) in August at Kumira. The average total catch per landing center per month was found 14805 kg at Kumira. The average catch per fishermen per day was found 3.39 kg at Kumira and the average cost per boat per month was about 7,813 Tk in the study area. Average sale per month was found over 18,713 Tk in Kumira. During the month July and August most of the fishermen were engaged in Hilsa fishing with the Hilsa gill net resulting the total catch was with ESBN lowest in those months.Asian J. Med. Biol. Res. The preference of the hermit crab Calcinus californiensis Bouvier, 1898 among six shell species and different shell sizes was evaluated in the presence of the swimming crab Arenaeus mexicanus (Gerstaecker, 1856), a natural predator of this species. In a second experiment, the survival benefit of the shell choice made under predation threat was examined by exposing hermit crabs occupying three different shell species (including the most and least preferred shells of two fits) to a free swimming crab predator. The preference for shell species was similar in the absence and presence of the predator threat, although the hermit crabs choose larger shells (loose) when exposed to the predator compared with the ones chosen in its absence. The predatory experiment showed a higher survival chance for the hermit crabs occupying loose shells of the preferred shell species (Cantharus sanguinolentus (Duclos, 1833)). The results of this study show that the hermit crab C. californiensis is able to change their preference for shell size in response to a predation threat and that the change in preference confers survival benefits for hermit crabs. This study is consistent with the assumption that predation is an important selective pressure for intertidal hermit crabs.

Mini purse seine has a major contribution in increasing production of small pelagic catches in Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai (PPP) Muncar, because it has high productivity and the construction made according to catch schooling fish. This research aims to compare the catches composition and catch rate of mini one-boat and two-boat purse seine in Bali Strait, Indonesia. This research was conducted in Mei 2018 in Muncar, East Java, Indonesia. The method used in this research is survey. The primary data are total catch composition, fork length, individual weight of total catch and operation time of both fishing gears. Data were analysed by main catch and bycatch proportion, legal size proportion and catch rate. The results showed that the mini two-boat purse seine had a greater catch volume compared to the mini one-boat purse seine. The bycatch composition dominates in both fishing gear. The proportion of legal-size catching is 67% of the total. The fork length is not significantly different and for the total catches is significantly different. The catching rate of the mini purse seine one boat catch rate is lower at 4,048.67 kg/hour, compared to the mini two-boat purse seine which is 9,189.18 kg/hour.

Payang merupakan alat tangkap dengan laju tangkap relatif tinggi di Teluk Jakarta, sedangkan bagan tancap dikenal kurang selektif karena hasil tangkapannya didominasi oleh ikan berukuran kecil baik jenis pelagis maupun demersal. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode fishing experiment pada payang dan bagan tancap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil tangkapan payang dan bagan tancap didominasi oleh jenis ikan demersal namun proporsi tangkapannya tidak jauh berbeda dengan jenis ikan pelagis. Komposisi ikan hasil tangkapan payang pada Agustus dan Oktober didominasi oleh jenis ikan pelagis, sedangkan pada bulan Desember didominasi oleh jenis ikan demersal. Nilai laju tangkap payang untuk jenis ikan pelagis ditemukan tinggi pada Agustus dan Oktober disebabkan oleh dominasi ikan cekong (Sardinella lemuru) dalam jumlah besar. Komposisi ikan hasil tangkapan bagan tancap pada Mei didominasi oleh jenis ikan demersal, sedangkan pada Oktober didominasi oleh jenis ikan pelagis. Daerah penangkapan payang meliputi perairan Pulau Damar, Pulau Bendera, Muara Pecah, Muara Angke, Pulau Onrust, Pulau Putri, Kronjo, sedangkan daerah penangkapan bagan tancap terkonsentrasi di sebelah barat perairan Teluk Jakarta, sekitar Pulau Kayangan, Pulau Bidadari dan Pulau Onrust.   ABSTRACT Payang, a mini danish seine, is an artisanal fishing gear that has high catchability rate. Like payang, another dominant fishing gear in Jakarta Bay, the lift net, is also known as unselective fishing gear since small fish dominate its catch. This research uses the fishing experiment method with payang and lift net to figure out the gears' catch composition and catch rate. The result shows both fishing gears predominately caught the demersal fish group, but its proportion does not much from the pelagic group. During August and October, the catch composition of payang was dominated by pelagic fish, while demersal fish was caught mostly in December. The high catch rate for pelagic fish was recorded in August and October since cekong fish (Sardinella lemuru) dominated the cath. The catch composition of lift net was dominated by demersal fish during May, while pelagic fish were mostly captured in October. Payang’s fishing ground includes Pulau Damar waters, Pulau Bendera, Muara Pecah, Muara Angke, Pulau Onrust, Pulau Putri, and Kronjo, while the lift net dominates the western part of part of Jakarta Bay including Pulau Kayangan, Pulau Bidadari, and Pulau Onrust.

Since the date of our last communication, we have continued our investigations, with the following results:–1. The light from a beam of uncondensed moonlight, though of weak intensity, and almost entirely free from heat rays, is still sufficient to alter the electro-motive power of the nerve and retina.2. We have examined the phenomenon in the eyes of the following animals:—(1.) The common newt (Triton aquaticus). (2.) The gold-fish (Cyprinus auratus). (3.) The rockling (Motella vulgaris). (4.) The stickleback (Gasterosteus trachurus). (5.) The common edible crab (Cancer pagurus). (6.) The swimming crab (Portunus puber). (7.) The spider crab (Hyas coarctatus). (8.) The hermit crab (Pagurus Bernhardus), and (9.) The lobster (Homarus vulgaris).

Penelitian terhadap komposisi dan distribusi ikan petek (Leiognathidae) di perairan SelatMakassar (perairan timur Kalimantan), dilakukan pada bulan Juni sampai dengan Juli 2005 dengan menggunakan KM. Bawal Putih. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa hasil tangkapan ikan petek (Leiognathidae)merupakan ikan dominan yang ke-2 dengan persentase 17,43%. Pada penelitian ini diperoleh 12 jenis ikan petek (Leiognathidae), dengan 3 genus yaitu Leognathus (7 spesies), Secutor (3 spesies), dan Gaza (2 spesies). Di antara ikan petek yang tertangkap, Leiognathus bindus mempunyai laju tangkap paling tinggi yaitu 12,53 kg per jam, dengan ukuran dominan antara FL 6,5 sampai dengan 7,0 cm, sedangkan Leiognathus splendens merupakan urutan ke-2 dengan laju tangkap 6,66 kg per jam, dengan ukuran dominan antara FL 10,0 sampai dengan 10,5 cm. Distribusi secara vertikal menunjukkan bahwa ikan petek, dominan tertangkap pada kedalaman perairan 21 sampai dengan 30 m, yang berlaku untuk semua jenis atau spesies ikan petek (Leiognathidae). Sedangkan distribusi horisontal ikan petek, dominan tertangkap di sekitar perairan Nunukan dan Tarakan. Research on catch composition, distribution, and some biological aspects of pony fish was conducted in June to July, 2005th using RV. Bawal Putih in the waters of East Kalimantan. Results show that the pony fish (Leiognathidae) provides the second largest component in the catch (17.43%), after Ariidae (30.02%). There were 3 genera of Leiognathidae i.e. Leiognathus (7 species), Secutor (3 species), and Gaza (2 species). Leioghnatus bindus was the highest catch rate within the Leioghnatidae group amoung to about 12.5 kg per hr, with the dominant size of FL 6.5 to 7.0 cm group, followed by Leioghnatus splendens with the catch rate of 6.75 kg per hr and the size of 10.0 to 10.5 cm. Based on depth distribution data it’s likely that the pony fish group was dominantly in the depth range of 21 to 30 m. Based on horizontal distribution data the pony fish group was dominantly in the East-Tarakan waters (1°49’ N–3°55’ N dan 117°53’ E–118° 31’ E).
