The article deals with accuracy of machine tools. The aim was to determine the accuracy with which already operates used machine – HAAS CNC Milling machine MiniMill. For evaluation of accuracy of the machine tool was used Renishaw QC20-W Ballbar system, which has the Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology of VŠB – TUO. The theoretical part describes the measurement principle using a telescopic Ballbar system. The principle of measurement is the comparison of the actual deviation from the ideal circle which is programmed. Experimental part is focused on the diagnosis of the whole process by the direct method of measurement during changing feed rate. Specifically, the determination of circularity deviation at machine tool was in accordance with international standards, e.g. ISO 230-4.

The paper presents a joint theoretical and experimental approach to determine the technological forces within the asymmetric single point incremental forming ASPIF process, based upon a theoretical model, image processing and data acquisition. The first step of this approach was to develop a theoretical model of the forces within the process, based upon the model of a mechanical feed drive of a CNC milling machine. By means of this model, relationships between the resistant torque at the motor spindle level and the technological force on the movement axis could be determined. Using an image processing method, which allowed the user to extract information within the machines operator panel and analytical relationships, the technological forces were determined. The results were compared with the measured values, obtained by means of a data acquisition system.

Dynamic characteristic of ball screw feed system in a milling machine is studied numerically in this work. In order to avoid the difficulty in determining the stiffness of rolling joints theoretically, a dynamic modeling method for analyzing the feed system is discussed, and a stiffness calculation method of the rolling joints is proposed based on the Hertz contact theory. Taking a 3-axis computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine set ermined as a research object, the stiffness of its fixed joint between the column and the body together with the stiffness parameters of the rolling joints is evaluated according to the Takashi Yoshimura method. Then, a finite element (FE) model is established for the machine tool. The correctness of the FE model and the stiffness calculation method of the rolling joints are validated by theoretical and experimental modal analysis results of the machine tool’s workbench. Under the two modeling methods of joints incorporating the stiffness parameters and rigid connection, a theoretical modal analysis is conducted for the CNC milling machine. The natural frequencies and modal shapes reveal that the joints’ dynamic characteristic has an important influence on the dynamic performance of a whole machine tool, especially for the case with natural frequency and higher modes.

Taking the spindle of machine tool as example,the modal analysis and harmonic response analysis were done by means of finite element method. Find out its characteristics of vibration modal. The analysis is conducive to the design of the spindle of machine tool. It makes a base for optimized design and remanufacturing.

In analysis of accuracy of 5-axis CNC milling machine measuring system with telescopic kinematic ball bar was used. Standard measuring test was made. The modified test was proposed with application of investigated inclined basis. The obtained results were compared. The accuracy of machine tool in indirect way was evaluated.

Тhe work of the milling machine with the CNC MCV-1000 is considered. A device that significantly improves the productivity of this machine when performing the operation of milling round holes along the outer surface of the pipe with a certain step is shown. The results obtained by experimental means are indicated. Analysis of current trends in the development of machine tool industry indicates the need to increase the technical level of metalworking equipment with developed complexes of technological operations. A significant role is played by the equipment of metalworking machines, namely, specialized devices for various types of processing. The goal is to increase metalworking productivity. As a result of the analysis of existing devices revealed their advantages and disadvantages. A new design of the device for the simultaneous processing of four pipes with a length of up to 1000 mm and a diameter of 32 mm on a MCV-1000 CNC milling machine is proposed. This device is designed for reliable fixation of four pipes simultaneously for the operation of milling round holes along the outer surface of the pipe with a certain step. The introduction of this device showed a double increase in productivity compared with the previous device, which was used at the enterprise.

The feed drive system is important functional components which effects on precision and efficiency of transmission and cost of CNC milling machine tools. So the designe of the feed drive system of economical CNC milling machine tool is researched. Firtsly the general design scheme which includes the transmission scheme and basic parameters of CNC milling machine tool is determined. Then according to the milling force calculated during mill processing, linear rolling guide, ball screw and stepping motor of X axis and Y axis of feed drive system are respectively calculated, selected and checked in detail. Using the Solid works software for 3D modeling and assembly of mechanical parts of feed drive system, By the scheme comparison, selecting the CNC system of Huazhong century star HNC-21 and accomplishing the electrical connection of CNC system.The feed drive system of economical CNC milling machine in the desing is high performance and low cost,and meet accuracy requirement.
