We propose a method to evaluate the potential volume of eruptive material using the seismic energy of volcanic earthquakes prior to eruptions of Merapi volcano. For this analysis, we used well-documented eruptions of Merapi volcano with pyroclastic flows (1994, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2006, and 2010) and the rates and magnitudes of volcano-tectonic A-type, volcano-tectonic B-type, and multiphase earthquakes before each of the eruptions. Using the worldwide database presented by White and McCausland [1], we derived a log-linear formula that describes the upper limit of the potential volume of erupted material estimated from the cumulative seismic energy of distal volcano-tectonic earthquakes. The relationship between the volume of pyroclastic material and the cumulative seismic energy released in 1994, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2006, and 2010 at Merapi volcano is well-approximated by the empirical formula derived from worldwide data within an order of magnitude. It is possible to expand this to other volcanic eruptions with short (< 30 years) inter-eruptive intervals. The difference in the intruded and extruded volumes between intrusions and eruptions, and the selection of the time period for the cumulative energy calculation are problems that still need to be addressed.

Abstract Every mechanical construction loses its properties in time due to the usage wear that leads to malfunctions and, in the end, to failure. Widely used method of failure time prediction base on extended laboratory tests where a device is tested against fatigue and wear. This method is well established but is expensive, time-consuming, and costly. Another way of failure prediction is to calculate it using advanced algorithms what is faster and cheaper but less accurate than actual tests. Furthermore, both methods are not optimal due to the principle of operation based on simplified assumptions. In such cases, it is common to make the lifespan of the safety wise devices for example landing gears much less than real in case of fatal failure not covered by the predictions. This can lead to much higher price and maintenance costs of the landing gear. Nowadays the worldwide trend is to monitor the behaviour of the devices in real time and predict failure using actual state. There are several methods of health monitoring, most of them including sensors, acquisition systems and computer software for analysis. In this article, authors describe possible landing gears health monitoring methods based on authors ’ laboratory experience in sensor appliance and test data analysis. The authors also present their idea of adding health monitoring to existing landing gears where no dedicated infrastructure was initially designed.

There are more and more overseas offshore oil project in china, along of external interdependent level in petroleum becomes upgrading year by year. Therefore, developing quick forecast method on overseas offshore reservoirs becomes very necessary. The method is divided into three steps: i the core data analysis results are used to calibrate the interpretation about logs of well, ii the well log interpreted results are used to mark seismic data, iii the abundant seismic data is used to forecast overseas offshore reservoir quickly. And rear end in this article, an overseas offshore reservoir is used to as an example to verify the applicability and reliability of the method.

Computer implementation of the models in solar energy engineering is very important. This paper summarized the models and realized them by ArcGIS/MATLAB/ SQL Server/ VC++ mixed programming. The experimental results show that it is feasible to apply mixed programming in solar energy engineering. The storage and management of solar energy data are of good performance. The implementation brings convenience for the solar energy reasonably utilization. Further, it puts forward a new direction for solar energy data analysis and calculation.

The purpose of this study is to determine the development of agrotourism Kampoeng Kopi Banaran and to analyze employee performance in supporting the development of agrotourism in Kampoeng Kopi Banaran, in Semarang Regency. In particular the goal is to find out how management efforts in developing agrotourism Kampoeng Kopi Banaran, management of human resources, employee performance in supporting the development of agrotourism. The study is mixed methods using 56 respondents as samples. While data analysis in this research using multiple regression analysis using F test and t test. The results of the data analysis of socio-demographic explain that influence on the performance showed that age, gender, education, family status, employment status and work experience positively affect employee performance. While F-test states that jointly age, gender, education, family status, employment status and work experience affect the performance. t test in this research shows there is no significant influence of gender on the performance, no significant influence of the family status on the performance. The conclusions of this study are that there is a positive and significant influence of socio-demographic on emplyoee performance and there is a positive and significant influence between employee performance against agrotourism understanding in Kampoeng Kopi Banaran.
