AbstractThe cave-living and monobasic fungus gnat genusSpeoleptaEdwards is reviewed with a description of the first Nearctic species,Speolepta vockerothisp. nov., from Canada (caves in Ontario and British Columbia) and the United States (Alaska). Its morphology, life history, and biology are documented and compared with the single European speciesSpeolepta leptogaster(Winnertz). A further new species,Speolepta orientalissp.nov., is described based on a single male from northern Vietnam, representing the first record of this genus from the Oriental Region.

Nine new species of the fungus-gnat genus Boletina Winnertz (B. falcata sp. n., B. hedstroemi sp. n., B. struthioides sp. n., B. kivachiana sp. n., B. fennoscandica sp. n., B. lapponica sp. n., B. subtriangularis sp. n., B. atridentata sp. n. and B. cordata sp. n.) are described from Russian Karelia, Finland and Sweden. The descriptions are based on recently collected specimens as well as on the old material deposited in the collection of the Museum of Natural History, Helsinki, Finland. Most of the collecting localities are situated in oldgrowth reservations or habitats suggested to protection. Detailed descriptions and illustrations of genitalia are given. Ecological data and information on closely related species are provided.

The late Professor Galina Petrovna Ostroverkhova (née Plotnikova; 1935–2008), of Tomsk State University in Russia, a specialist in Sciaroidea, studied mostly the Siberian fauna of that diverse group of Diptera. She published altogether 52 papers devoted to fungus gnat taxonomy and ecology (for complete list see Babenko & Shcherbakov 2010). The most comprehensive publications were the Mycetophilidae chapter in the Keys to Insects of the European part of the USSR (Ostroverkhova & Stackelberg 1969) and a monograph of Siberian fungus gnats (Ostroverkhova 1979). She described about 130 new species, one new genus (Neoclastobasis Ostroverkhova, 1970) and one new tribe (Clastobasini Ostroverkhova, 1970) of Sciaroidea and her collection is an important source of primary information about this group in the Palaearctic Region.

A comprehensive study of material of the worldwide fungus gnat genus Manota Williston, sampled from the Allpahuayo-Mishana National Reserve in Peruvian Amazonia, was conducted. The following 16 species are described as new: M. aligera sp. n., M. aristoseta sp. n., M. calva sp. n., M. ciliata sp. n., M. exigua sp. n., M. digitata sp. n., M. flabellata sp. n., M. iquitosensis sp. n., M. limulata sp. n., M. micella sp. n., M. minutula sp. n., M. nuda sp. n., M. parvula sp. n., M. pauloides sp. n., M. pustulosa sp. n. and M. serrulata sp. n. In addition, the following 16 species are recorded: M. acuminata Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005, M. acutistylus Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005, M. anfracta Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. appendiculata Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. aristata Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. bisulca Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. diversiseta Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005, M. iota Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. micula Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. papillosa Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. paula Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. penicillata Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005, M. pisinna Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. quantula Hippa & Kurina, 2013, M. spinosa Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005 and M. virgata Hippa & Kurina, 2013. Altogether 67 species of Manota are now known from the Neotropical region.

The fungus gnats of Georgia are studied based on 2682 specimens collected from 57 localities during 2011–2019. Altogether, 245 species are recorded including four species of Bolitophilidae, three species of Diadocidiidae, two species of Ditomyiidae, 34 species of Keroplatidae and 202 species of Mycetophilidae. 230 and 188 species are recorded from Georgia and the whole of Transcaucasia for the first time, respectively. Three new species – Sciophila georgei sp. nov., Leia katae sp. nov. and Anatella metae sp. nov. – are described including detailed illustrations of the male terminalia. Photographs are provided for an additional 38 species to highlight a variability of their general facies. Combined with earlier published data, the number of fungus gnat species in Georgia is set at 246. The estimated diversity of fungus gnats in Georgia is calculated using non-parametric methods and discussed with respect to other Western Palaearctic regions.

AbstractTwo new Iotonchium species are described from Japan. These species possesses four adult forms; mycetophagous female, infective female, male and insect-parasitic female. Iotonchium laccariae n. sp. is characterised by short body length of all adult forms, right-angled L-shaped spicule with beak-like distal arm, a pair of large papillae anterior to the cloacal opening, the dorso-ventrally flattened head of male and the reproductive features of the parasitic female. The mycetophagous females of I. laccariae n. sp. inhabit the fruiting bodies of four Laccaria spp. Males and infective females were also obtained from the fruiting bodies. The insect-parasitic females of I. laccariae n. sp. inhabit the haemocoel of a fungus gnat, Allodia laccariae. Iotonchium russulae n. sp. is characterised by the long body length of the infective female, parasitic female and mycetophagous female, obtuse-angled L-shaped spicule with dorsally curved slender distal arm, a pair of bifid postcloacal papillae, presence of a mid-ventral postcloacal papilla in the male and reproductive features of the parasitic female. The mycetophagous females, males and infective females of I. russulae n. sp. were obtained from the fruiting bodies of three Russula spp. and two Lactarius spp. The insect-parasitic females of I. russulae n. sp. inhabit the haemocoel of A. bipexa, a species of fungus gnat.

The fungus gnat fauna of Sardinia is reviewed and data presented for all species recorded. Altogether one species of Bolitophilidae, 16 species of Keroplatidae and 105 species of Mycetophilidae are recognised as occurring in Sardinia. As the bolitophilid and two of the mycetophilid species are represented only by females and are not determined to species level, the total confirmed Sardinian list stands at 119 species. Four species of Keroplatidae and 19 species of Mycetophilidae are new to the total Italian fauna, whereas three species of Keroplatidae and 32 species of Mycetophilidae are newly recorded for the island of Sardinia. Six species are described as new to science: two Keroplatidae (Urytalpa juliae sp. nov., Macrocera nuragica sp. nov.) and four Mycetophilidae (Boletina ichnusa sp. nov., Trichonta sandalyon sp. nov., Sciophila benjaminbottomi sp. nov., Sciophila immodesta sp. nov.). The new synonymy Zygomyia valida Winnertz, 1863 = Zygomyia simplex Strobl, 1895 syn. nov. is established. Macrocera penicillata Costa, 1857 is tentatively considered as a synonym of M. phalerata Meigen, 1818. Label data are provided for 5 and 17 species recorded without further detail in the Fauna Europaea online database, respectively from Italian mainland and Sicily; one species, Mycetophila alea Laffoon, 1965 is newly recorded for Sicily. Three species based onunconfirmed 19 th century records cited by Hellrigl from South Tyrol should be deleted from the Italian list: Exechiopsis indecisa (Walker, 1856), Mycetophila signata Meigen, 1830 and Mycomya storai Väisänen, 1979.

A new fungus gnat species, Anaclileia adjarica sp. n. (Diptera:Mycetophilidae) from Georgia is described, illustrated and discussed. The species represents the first record of the genus from Georgia as well as from whole Caucasus region. The new species is distinguished by the peculiar and unique structure of the male terminalia, especially that of the tergite 9 which includes posterolateral megasetae and a heart-shaped aggregation of small spines. The possible distributional range of the new species is discussed.
