Knowledge is an essential factor in human existence. Education has been found responsible for social, economic, cultural and technological development of human society. Higher education institutions are responsible for producing required skilled human capital needed to enhance sustainable development. For these institutions to meet up with numerous demand of the society and function effectively leadership is an essential factor to be considered. This study examined the effect of leadership self-efficacy, change oriented behavior on staff organizational citizenship behavior in higher education institutions focusing on the moderating effect of experience. A total of 420 staff from 10 different higher education institutions in Lagos State, Nigeria were sampled. Structural Equation Modeling was used to access the moderating effect of experience on these variables. It was found that experience moderates the relationship between leadership self-efficacy, change oriented behavior, change policy and organizational citizenship behavior. Therefore, experience must be considered as a vital factor in higher education management and development.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of change leadership on staff organizational citizenship behavior in a university setting. Moreover, the study aims to explore forces that influencing on staff organizational citizenship behavior in higher education institutions. Design/methodology/approach The study adopts a qualitative research design. An interview protocol along with field notes were used as major approaches for collecting in-depth data. Coding and categorizing approach were used to analyze interview transcriptions to help for emerging the study’s themes. Findings The findings reveal that change leadership builds confidence of staff, motivate them and helps to ensure trust. Moreover, results show that staff organizational citizenship behavior is influenced by personal, organizational, social-cultural and economic forces. To increase the organizational citizenship behavior of staff in higher education institutions, there is a need for leaders to use appropriate change-oriented style in leading their organizations. Findings also revealed that change leaders must serve as role-model to their subordinates as a way on enhancing staff organizational citizenship behavior. Research limitations/implications Academic leaders are the pivot of change in higher education institutions. Accordingly, the effectiveness of higher education institution, staff and students are depending on the effectiveness of the leadership. In this regard, academic leaders’ willingness to change is the most effective factor that not only sets the credibility of the organization, but, more importantly, influence on staff organizational behavior. Practical implications It is hoped that the outcome of this research will contribute to the current knowledge of change leadership and organizational behavior in universities. Originality/value This is an original research and makes a great contribution to higher education in Asian countries.

The prime purpose of this paper is to find out the correlated relations in organizational citizenship behavior, team performance, negative emotions, resource depletion and team member receptivity in higher education institutions in India. The study has been taken on 204 samples with 51 teams from colleges and universities of India, which were gathered by using the questionnaire. The findings have been used for better organizational citizenship behavior, how organizations have to maintain their negative emotions, resource depletion, team members receptivity, team performance to obtain efficient and effective organizational citizenship behavior and team performance in selected higher education institutions in India and considering the variables such as negative emotions, resource depletion, team members receptivity, team performance and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB).

This study aims to validate and confirm a structural equation modeling (hypothesized model) of organizational citizenship behavior from Islamic perspective (OCBIP) practices in Indonesian state Islamic higher education institutions. This study employed a quantitative survey method to collect the data from 450 academic staff of six States Islamic Higher Education Institutions across Indonesia using a five-point organizational citizenship behavior scale based on Islamic perspective. A descriptive analysis technique was performed to comprehend the respondents view on the practice of underlying factor, followed by the application of confirmatory factor analysis and full-fledge SEM. The study’s findings exhibited that the academic staff in the sampled higher institutions of learning had high inclination and passion for practicing OCBIP in their respective working place. Results also showed a high degree of OCBIP practices by academic staff in selected higher education institutions. Theoretically, the study also established a four factor model of OCBIP practices such as altruism, civic virtue, advocating high moral standards (da’wah), and removing harm (raf’al haraj). The result was deliberated through SEM on the observed instruments, and the hypothesized model of OCBIP under the study was empirically valid and reliable. The findings provided a remarkable contribution for institutions of higher learning and top management to intensify the operation of OCB based on Islamic perspective in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The practical contributions guide the academic staff, particularly in Indonesian state Islamic higher education institutions and other regions, to embrace all principal human resource development and management practices. The study has successfully tested, formulated, and validated the hypothesized model of organizational citizenship behavior based on the Islamic perspective for Indonesian State Islamic Higher Education Institutions.

This research aims to study the direct and indirect influence of self-efficacy on organizational citizenship behavior transmitted through employee engagement, organizational commitment and job satisfaction, and to examine employee engagement, organizational commitment and job satisfaction as partial or full mediators. The study samples were 400 employees in the automobile parts manufacturing industry. The study instruments used by previous researchers were applied and back translation was conducted on all questionnaire items. Content validity and reliability was then tested prior to using them for data collection. Direct and indirect influences and mediators were analyzed with the Hayes Model 81 using the PROCESS Program. Results revealed that self-efficacy had a direct influence on organizational citizenship behavior with statistical significance, with an indirect influence transmitted through employee engagement, organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Employee engagement, organizational commitment and job satisfaction functioned as partial mediators between self-efficacy and organizational citizenship behavior with statistical significance. The model was based on the theory of self-efficacy to express organizational citizenship behavior. However, the study results showed that employee engagement, organizational commitment and job satisfaction play roles as mediators in transmission of effective organizational citizenship behavior. Therefore, these mediators are important factors that can accurately explain organizational citizenship behavior.

Critics argue that service firms should pay more attention to human resource management’s psychological and voluntary aspects to contribute to overall organizational development. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of physical self-efficacy on the psychological well-being and organizational citizenship behavior among hotel employees and the moderating effects of leisure-time physical activity on the relationships between the previously mentioned variables. To achieve the research purpose, 346 hotel employees working at the room, food, beverage, and kitchen departments of 10 hotels located in Seoul, South Korea, participated in the study. The researchers visited their department meetings and provided a brief description of the present study and informed consent forms to participate in the study. After obtaining written informed consent forms, the researchers distributed the surveys and asked participants to complete them. Several statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for examining the hypothesized model’s psychometric properties, and structural equation modeling (SEM) for testing the hypotheses were conducted using SPSS Ver. 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. Results revealed that perceived physical ability and self-presentation confidence, and psychological well-being positively affected organizational citizenship behavior. Perceived physical ability also had a positive effect on psychological well-being. Lastly, leisure-time physical activity had a partial moderating role in the relationships between the variables mentioned above. This study suggests that promoting employees’ participation in leisure-time physical activity is needed to improve service workers’ organizational citizenship behavior via physical self-efficacy and psychological well-being enhancement.

Purpose Improving employees’ change-oriented organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is important because of the work content and service nature of the National Immigration Agency (NIA). The purpose of this paper, which targeted immigration workers using the work design model (knowledge oriented), leadership types and organizational climate as perspectives, is to study immigration workers’ change-oriented OCB. Inspecting the knowledge-oriented work characteristics (KOWCs) of the NIA of Taiwan to find ways of stimulating change-oriented OCB through employees’ high self-efficacy is also critical. The investigators also explored how transformational leadership and organizational climate directly affect employees’ change-oriented OCB in a cross-level organization. Design/methodology/approach The subject of this research is the frontline immigration workers of Taiwan’s NIA, with its entire staff on duty at the country’s airports and ports as targets of the research. This study used a total of 312 questionnaires. Findings At the group level, transformational leadership shows significant positive influence on organizational climate. KOWCs can positively influence self-efficacy and affect change-oriented OCB on an individual basis; similarly, self-efficacy can also positively impact the individual’s change-oriented OCB. In addition, transformational leadership and organizational climate have a contextual effect on the outcome variable on an individual basis. Originality/value This finding is helpful for researching and practicing implications of HRM, such as in further understanding how the motivation from work characteristics, organization’s environment and interpersonal networks can increase employees’ change-oriented OCB.
