Involvement of youth in horticulture agribusiness has become a vital approach to create employment opportunities among the youth in Tanzania. This study aimed at examining the extent of youth participation and factors influencing youth involvement in horticulture agribusiness with a focus on innovations in post-harvest management (PHM). Data were collected from a sample of 576 male and female youth in Njombe region using a multi-stage random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using an ordered logit model and descriptive statistics. Results of the ordered logit analysis showed that primary school education, Form IV and above, management innovation, access to credit, good perception of horticulture for agribusiness and improved packaging materials positively and significantly influence youth involvement in horticulture agribusiness. Gender and land size had a negative and significant influence on youth involvement in horticulture agribusiness, as indicated by higher percentages of male youth (59%) participation in the horticulture agribusiness. Therefore, this study suggests increased investment in capacity development of the youth on PHM innovations and the development of rural infrastructure such as agro-processing and storage facilities by the government and private sector. Increasing the availability of improved packaging materials and provision of youth-friendly credit schemes could encourage youth in horticulture agribusiness.

Household saving is very important, not only for securing the future spending of the family but also for the country's economy. Using the logit analysis on data of The Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) wave three, four, and five, this chapter analyzes factors influencing, especially the role of ethnicity, upon the household savings in Indonesia. The result indicates that gender, location, and level of education are the consistent variables affecting the household saving behaviour in Indonesia across the three wave surveys. Meanwhile, as for the ethnic group variable, there are only Sunda, Batak, and Bima-Dompu that can significantly influence the people's saving behavior across the three wave surveys.

A multidimensional poverty index is constructed for the Philippines using the Alkire-Foster methodology and data from a 2011 annual poverty indicators survey. This is disaggregated into urban and rural population groups, as well as by dimension and administrative region. At the province level, the study finds a positive relation between poverty incidence and intensity, but the highest intensity levels are experienced in areas where incidence is not that high relative to other areas. Provinces with high incomes generally have low poverty indices and the relationship appears to be nonlinear. An examination of household poverty using mixed logit analysis shows that poverty risk rises with household size. A substantial reduction of the risk is observed for households with heads who were able to matriculate high school. The household head's health status has a negative impact on the household's risk of being poor. These are contrasted with the results using the income poverty definition. Policy implications are drawn from the calculations and the econometric results.

China is fast becoming one of the most important luxury goods market. The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of luxury purchasing behavior in the Chinese affluent market. Based on the logit analysis of 618 affluent respondents, the results show that social-adjustive motivation and life satisfaction are significantly associated with the purchasing of luxuries. However, the value-expressive motivation, which has been verified that could drive the consumer buy luxury items, does not have significant effect on luxury purchasing behavior for the Chinese affluent consumers. In the meantime, the demographic characteristics of individual are significantly associated with his/her luxury purchasing behavior, and the younger affluent consumers with higher income and international education are more likely to buy more luxuries. It helps researchers and companies to understand the differences of the factors influencing luxury consumption between Chinese consumers and their global peers.

Crop diversification at farm level is accepted to be an effective tool in risk mitigation in agriculture. But this concept of crop diversification is not been adopted much by farmers of Thiruvarur for reason unknown. Hence a study was undertaken to analyse the factors influencing the farmers awareness on the relevance of crop diversification in risk management and to rank the reason for non – adoption of crop diversification in Thiruvarur district of Tamilnadu. With regard to selection of study area, Thiruvarur district was considered as the universe of the study. The Mannargudi block of this district was purposively selected since it possesses cultivation area falling under both upstream irrigation as well as tail end irrigation. The Logit analysis revealed that the awareness on crop diversification had been positively and significantly influenced by education level of farmers, size of farm, no of agri – related meetings attended by respondents and labour scarcity. Further, Garrett ranking analysis revealed that the farmer’s attitude of “more reliance on traditional methodologies” was the prime reason for non - adoption of crop diversification in Thiruvarur district. Efforts may be enhanced by the institutional authorities to popularise the concept of crop diversification and its relevance in risk mitigation in agriculture. Village specific crop diversification models have to be identified considering the local features and advocated.

This paper examines 29,403 entering vehicles that rejected two or more headways for a total of 69,123 rejected headways. A detailed series of temporal parameters was established and used to estimate a mixed binary logit model and understand rejection/acceptance decisions. This technique allows for the parameter estimates to vary across the population and across the set of decisions that drivers made and suggests that drivers may modify their critical headway as they wait at the yield bar. The results from this paper indicate that future consideration of capacity using a dynamic critical headway could be useful in modeling and capacity estimation.
