Abstract In electricity market with a deregulation withmany times will become difficult for dispatchingpower, whichis obtained with thepower congestion in transmission lines due to flow of power in buses. To reduce the flow of power in buses and system loss in lines which are heavily loaded, toimproveloadability and system stability for which an Interline Power Flow Controller used. In this article, Disparity Utilization Factor for Line is utilized with the optimal tuning and placement with Gravitational Search Algorithm IPFC hinged transmission lines for power congestion. The rankingof transmission lines by line congestion in terms of relative DLUF. According to the IPFC placementwith the essentialminimum congested, weakline connected to the same bus in the congested distribution network. IPFC optimal Sizing is carried with Gravitational Search Algorithm. The multiobjective function is chosen for parameters tuning of IPFC. A suggested IEEE-30 bus test network is implemented by a graphical representation whichis considered in this study toreduce LUF in transmission lines with IPFC optimal placement. Bothactive power losses and reactive power losses in power systemare necessary to be minimized after every iterationof IPFC optimal tuning. The proposed tuning in this articlegives effectivenesswith the reduction in the values of power system with the objective functions.

The optimal location of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) controllers in a multi-machine power system using proposed differential gravitational search algorithm (DGSA) optimization method is proposed in this paper. The main objective of this paper is to employ DGSA optimization technique to solve optimal power flow problem in the presence of Unified Power Flow controller for improving voltage profile by reducing losses along with the installation cost thereby enhancing the power system stability. A differential operator is incorporated into the gravitational search algorithm for effective search of the better solution. Due to this, the convergence and accuracy will be faster. The IEEE-6 bus, IEEE-14 bus and IEEE-30 bus systems are tested along with three other optimization techniques to validate the effectiveness of this proposed method. This proposed algorithm presents an optimal location of FACTS devices in transmission lines.

Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) have been proposed in the late 1980s to meet and provide the electrical power system requirements. FACTS are used to control the power flow and to improve the power system stability. Interline power flow controller (IPFC) is a versatile device in the FACTS family of controllers and one of its latest generations which has the ability to simultaneously control the power flow in two or multiple transmission lines. This paper is tackling the IPFC performance in power systems; it aims to discuss the availability to define a known scenario for the IPFC performance in different systems. An introduction supported with brief review on IPFC, IPFC principle of operation and IPFC mathematical model are also introduced. IEEE 14-bus and 30-bus systems have chosen as a test power systems to support the behavior study of power system equipped with IPFC device. Three different locations have chosen to give variety of system configurations to give effective performance analysis.

The equipments based on the power electronics have been improved under the name of Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS) in the last years. Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is the most widely used FACTS device to control the power flow and to optimize the system stability in the transmission line. UPFC is a FACTS devices that can control active and reactive power flow in transmission line by means of injection controllable series voltage to the transmission line. This paper proposes a new connection for a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) to control the active and reactive power flow control in two sides of a transmission line independently and it regulates bus voltage in the same transmission line, furthermore it is possible to balance line current too. This connection of the UPFC will be called an center node UPFC (C_UPFC). It is one of the newest devices within the FACTS technology. The structure and capability of the C_UPFC is discussed and its control scheme is based on the d-q orthogonal coordinates. According to this, the performance of UPFC for several modes of operations using different control mechanisms based on Proportional-Integral (PI) and PID based controllers has been studied. The obtained simulation results from Matlab/simulink confirm the effective features.
