Abstract The structural characteristics and basic design requirements of design of switched reluctance linear generator are introduced. According to the general principles and design experience of electromechanical design, the dimension of design of switched reluctance linear generator is determined, and the two-dimensional and three-dimensional static finite element models of design of switched reluctance linear generator are established in Flux 2D and Flux 3D respectively. By comparing the simulation results of the two-dimensional model and the three-dimensional model, it is found that the difference between the real simulation results of the 2D model and the 3D model is small, and the calculation time cost of the 2D finite element simulation is much lower than that of the 3D model. Therefore, the subsequent work of this paper adopts the 2D finite element model. Finally, the static electromagnetic field and electromagnetic characteristics of the design of switched reluctance linear generator are analyzed by finite element analysis.

In this article to be created three dimensional model of reinforced plastic using finite element analysis (FEA) to simulated slab rolling between rollers by wide thickness in work piece is analyzed. The behaviour of materials while rolling roller at the time of pass, finite element deform3d program employed and developed 3D model of the heat developed rolling process. The influences of different process parameters namely speed of the roller, thickness of the slab, thickness reduction & heat transfer coefficient are taken an account. The stress, strain & strain rate, the temperature distribution in the roll and the slab, are developed throughout a steady-state analysis of the process involved. From the simulation process, the machining possibilities are obtained

In order to improve the guiding accuracy in intercepting the hypersonic vehicle, this article presents a finite-time guidance law based on the observer and head-pursuit theory. First, based on a two-dimensional model between the interceptor and target, this study applies the fast power reaching law to head-pursuit guidance law so that it can alleviate the chattering phenomenon and ensure the convergence speed. Second, target maneuvers are considered as system disturbances, and the head-pursuit guidance law based on an observer is proposed. Furthermore, this method is extended to a three-dimensional case. Finally, comparative simulation results further verify the superiority of the guidance laws designed in this article.

Predictions of transient temperature distributions in welding can help the selection of welding process parameters that minimize residual stresses. A three-dimensional (3D) thermal finite element model of bead-on-plate gas metal are welding (GMAW) is presented and is used to evaluate a cross-sectional, two-dimensional (2D) counterpart model. While the thermomechanical problem of welding is 3D in nature, it is shown that the 2D model can provide temperature field predictions comparable to those of the 3D model, even though the 2D model tends to predict peak temperatures higher than those of the 3D model. Both types of model predictions are compared to welding test measurements.

New full hall scaffolds with pulley-clip style formwork support system is adopted in the concert hall of Changsha. This paper presents the concept of the complete equivalent initial imperfection according to the characteristics of too many influential factors on the high formwork supporting frame, then makes the complete equivalent initial imperfectione equivalent to assumed equivalent horizontal load in order to ensure the safety of the frame. At the same time, it gets a three-dimensional model by the general finite element software ANSYS 10.0. Based on the results of experiment and finite element analysis, it gets the recommended value of assumed equivalent horizontal load. The study on the high formwork supporting frame with pulley-clip style provides some reference for other similar projects.

In this paper, research the influence on position of vice nozzle in the sensitive element of nozzle array fluidic gyroscope. Using ANSYS-FLOTRAN CFD software, the finite element simulation is conducted by a series of procedures, such as two-dimensional model building of fluidic gyroscope, meshing, loads applying and equation solving. The two dimensional airflow distributions of different distances between vice nozzle and main nozzle in sensitive element of nozzle array fluidic gyroscope are calculated. The results show that, the distance between vice nozzle and main nozzle l=1.1mm, velocity of airflow at the outlet VSUM=0.71455m/s, and it is 47.6% of the velocity at the inlet, which increases by 1.75% than the distance l=0.5mm. The larger distance between vice nozzle and main nozzle has better convergence trend, it reduces the decay which causes by the airflow propagation, promotes airflow movement and increases temperatures changes without any vortex increase in sensitive cavity, so it can improve the sensitive of fluidic gyroscope.

Three-dimensional finite element model of the mine escape capsule is established. With the different values of explosion shock waves, simulation analysis of the entry locker is performed by using ABAQUS. The simulation results indicate that the mine escape capsule is safe and available if the surge pressure of shock waves is less than 3.5Mpa.

The performances of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) based planar nanodevice are studied by a two-dimensional-three-dimensional (2D-3D) combined model and an entirely 2D model. In both models, 2DEGs are depicted by 2D ensemble Monte Carlo (EMC) method. However electric field distributions in the devices are obtained by self-consistently solving 2D and 3D Poisson equations for the 2D model and the 2D-3D model, respectively. Simulation results obtained by both models are almost the same at low bias while showing distinguished differences at high bias. The 2D model predicts larger output current and slightly higher threshold voltage of Gunn oscillations. Although the fundamental frequencies of current oscillations obtained by both models are similar, the deviation of wave shape from sinusoidal waveform obtained by the 2D model is more serious than that obtained by 2D-3D model. Moreover, results obtained by the 2D model are more sensitive both to the bias conditions and to the change of device parameters. Interestingly, a look-like second harmonic oscillation has been observed at DC bias. We contribute the origin of divergences in simulation results to the different coupling path of electric field in the two models. And the second-harmonic oscillations at DC bias should be the result of the appearance of concomitant oscillations beside the channel excited by strong electric-field effects.

The structural integrity of steam generators in nuclear power plants is very much dependent upon the fretting wear characteristics of Inconel 690 U-tubes. In this study, a finite element analysis was used to investigate fretting wear on the secondary side of the steam generator, which arises from flow-induced vibrations (FIV) between the U-tubes and supports or foreign objects. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element analyses were adopted to investigate the fretting wear problems. The purpose of the two-dimensional analysis, which simulated the contact between a punch and a plate, was to demonstrate the validity of using finite element analysis to analyze fretting wear problems. This was achieved by controlling the value of the wear constant and the number of cycles. The two-dimensional solutions obtained from this study were in good agreement with previous results reported by Strömberg. In the three-dimensional finite element analysis, a quarterly symmetric model was used to simulate tubes contacting at right angles. The results of the analyses showed donut-shaped wear along the contacting boundary, which is a typical feature of fretting wear.

Portal axle unit is a gearbox unit installed on every end axles of the vehicle. It is installed to the vehicle to give higher ground clearance to enable vehicle to go over large obstacle when driving in off-road conditions. Shafts must be exceptionally tough and lightweight to improve the overall performance of the portal axle unit. In this paper, the shaft is analyzed in three-dimensional model and the stress of the shaft model is analyzed using finite element analysis (FEA). The FEA result is compared with experimental results.
