Abstract In this research, the spectral properties of Absorption and Fluorescence of synthetic coconut oil (Local made) have been studied. It was found that the efficiency of coconut oil equal to (3.276%). In addition, non-linear optical properties represented by the refractive index (n2) and absorption coefficient(β) have been calculatal using three –dimensioual scanning technigue (z-scan and Helium Neom laser. Refractive inex (n2=4.231×10-7 cm2/mW) and absorption coefficient (β= 0.72373 cm/mW) have been measured from Closed-aperture part and Open-aperture part, respectively. Coconut oil has non-linear properties, where it can be utilize in nonlinear spectral applications, especially in the study the living tissue through its application and its treatment with laser.

A series of methyl-terminated oligooxyethylene ( CH 3( OCH 2 CH 2)n O , n = 8.8)-substituted phthalocyanines with peripheral substitution at four β positions, at four α positions and at the eight α positions was synthesized and structurally characterized. These compounds are isotropic liquids above 10 °C. Non-linear optical properties of the tetra-α- and tetra-β-substituted compounds were examined. Both are reverse saturable absorbers in the visible region of the spectrum, but the tetra-α-substituted compound has the larger non-linear absorption coefficient and can be a useful optical limiter in cases where a non-volatile liquid is desirable.

In this work, we report preliminary results obtained for methacrylic polymers incorporating azobenzene side-group as nonlinear optical (NLO) active molecule. The trans-cis isomerization properties are discussed. The third-order non-resonant nonlinear refractive index (n2) and nonlinear absorption coefficient (β) are measured using the Z-scan technique at 1064 nm in the picosecond regime. The influence of different electron-acceptor groups in azobenzene moieties on the nonlinear properties is investigated.

In the present paper, the linear and non-linear optical properties of GaAs/AlGaAs multiple quantum well with on-center and on-edge delta doping are studied within the effective mass approximation. The delta potential is analytically modeled within each quantum well potential to obtain the energy levels and the corresponding wave functions using the robust finite difference method. The linear and non-linear optical absorption coefficients and changes in the refractive index are studied in the presence of a static magnetic and a periodic laser field using the density matrix approach. The obtained results show that the position of resonances and the amplitude of the optical absorption coefficients and the refractive index changes can be modified by varying the magnetic field and strength and position of doping potential. Lastly, an increase of the optical intensity appreciably changes the total absorption coefficient, as well as the total refractive index changes. Obtained results are important for the design of various electronic components such as high-power FETs and infrared photonic devices based on the intersubband transition of electrons in δ-doped multiple quantum wells.

In this study, the absorption and fluorescence spectra of the dissolved Acridine solution were studied in ethanol and different concentrations. The optical properties (absorption coefficient, linear refraction) and spectral characteristics (Fluorescence time and quantitative fluoridation efficiency) were calculated. It is observed that increasing the concentration increases the absorbance values and decreases the permeability values, thus increasing the values of the absorption coefficient and the refractive index. Also, the values of the fluorine intensity increase. The peak of the emission spectrum is transferred to the longer wavelengths.

In this work, the non-linear optical properties (nonlinear refractive index , nonlinear absorption coefficient ) for different samples of water based Ferrofluids have been presented and studied by aid of z-scan technique. These liquids have different diameters of nano-particle suspensions. The difference in diameter leads to higher absorption ; bigger radius leads to higher nonlinear coefficient and nonlinear refractive index.
