The long-term strategic goal of Russia is the sustainable development of its regions. Recreational resources are able to create conditions for sustainable development of the region, the importance of which is due to the fact that on the one hand they are the basis and source of economic restructuring and its modernization, and on the other, they have an impact on social factors of sustainable development. National parks, being one of the important forms of natural and recreational resources, can become the initiators and centers of active dissemination of sustainable development strategy in the surrounding areas. The paper studies the impact of alternative use of the potential of national parks in the formation of sustainable development of the region. As a factorial feature, the share of the area of the national Park in the region of its location from the entire area of the region was made, as a result - indicators corresponding to the economic, social and environmental spheres of sustainable development of the region. The indicators of the resulting indicators of the economic sphere of development of the region were selected: GRP per capita, investment in fixed capital aimed at protecting the environment and the rational use of natural resources; current costs of environmental protection; social - morbidity rates per 1.000 people, the number of deaths per 1.000 people; life expectancy; environmental - the number of air samples studied exceeding the maximum allowable concentration as a percentage of the total number of samples studied. To measure the tightness of the relationship between certain indicators, the calculation of the empirical correlation ratio was applied. The calculations show the existence of links between the size of the national Park and economic, social and environmental indicators, thereby confirming the special functional role of recreational resources in the formation of the foundations of sustainable development of the region, which should now be considered as the basis and source of economic restructuring and modernization.

In this paper, the evolution characteristics of landscape ecological pattern of Shenmu County are addressed based on the principles and methods of landscape ecology and the spatial analysis of GIS and Fragstats in order to maintain and improve the landscape pattern in this region as well as provide support for planning. Firstly, the typical TM / ETM images in 1989, 2002 and 2006 are pro-processed based on GIS software to analyze the land use / cover change process in Shenmu county, and then the change characteristics of landscape pattern are analyzed by landscape indicators. The results demonstrate that the regional differences among different landscape types enlarge gradually, the landscape fragmentation and heterogeneity increase constantly, and the landscape diversity and evenness decrease over the past years.

The environmental protection of islet in river is of great significance for the development of islet and its surrounding areas. The sustainable development of tourism resource of islet in river is a good way for the environmental protection of islet. The paper aims to study on the environmental protection and sustainable development of tourism resource of islet in river. Based on the theory of sustainable development, the paper analyzed the characteristics of tourism resource of islet in river and problems in the process of exploitation. Then, the paper discussed the significance of sustainable development for tourism resource of islet in river. The strategies of environmental protection for the sustainable development of tourism resource in river-islet were put forward in the end of the paper.

Biodiversity protection, conserving and utilizing natural resources to its maximum is the foundation of contemporary social stability and sustainable development of our modern society and is the trend of landscape planning. Reforming the nature based on the basic theory of ecology, the idea of sustainable development, the methods of landscape planning, in order to create a landscape ecological planning pattern which will not cause pollution and secondary pollution and generate landscape ecological function to the upmost.

Ungulates, large primates and caviomorfs are cited by Amazonian hunters as preferred species. In this research, paca (Cuniculus paca) hunting was investigated in relation to water levels and the lunar cycle. In eight years of monitoring in the Amanã Sustainable Development Reserve, the killing of 625 pacas was registered in five monitored communities. Paca hunting took place mainly at night and the most commonly used method is “spotlighting”. A positive correlation between the number of pacas killed and water level (rs=0.890; p<0.0001) was found. At least 37% of the pacas were hunted when moon illumination level was less than 10%, before moonrise or after moonset. In the Boa Esperança community, capture of paca tended to decrease on nights with high moon illumination (rs= −0.663; p=0.067). At the same time, an expressive catch-per-unity-effort decrease was also observed in this community (r2= −0.881; p<0.001), allowing us to predict unsustainable hunting levels for the next decade. The stock of animals in these areas could be continuously replaced if surrounding areas consisted of continuous forests. However, continuous hunting and deforestation force local hunters to travel longer distances to kill prey such as pacas. The confirmation of the relation between paca habits and lunar illumination and water level, a pattern described by local hunters, demonstrates the potential value of participatory research and the possibility of integrating traditional knowledge into scientific knowledge.
