Abstract Stem wood, obtained from the cuttings of care in low-forest areas is of low quality. Such wood has a number of vices, one of which is simple curvature, which has impact on the voluminous and commercial output of round timber. Reducing this influence can be achieved through high-quality bucking. Therefore, the purpose of the work presented is to increase the volume and commercial output of round timber harvested in low-forest areas. The developed technique using computers allows to solve the tasks of modeling the shape of wood whips and logs using multi-critical optimization and bucking whips having curvature. The use of the proposed technique allows for results adequate to the real production conditions, as evidenced by the methods of decision-making used. Scientific research and theoretical developments, taking into account the formed database, allowed to search for the optimal scheme of cutting when bucking round timber, performed according to the algorithm based on the busting of acceptable variants using modern theory of graphs and matrixes. As a result, the developed program will reduce the time for data formation, guarantee the accuracy of the results, the program easily adapts to natural and production conditions and will expand the possibilities for Computer-aided design.

In this article, we describe a computer-aided design process for generating high-quality Birds of a Feather solitaire card puzzles. In each iteration, we generate puzzles via combinatorial optimization of an objective function. After solving and subjectively rating such puzzles, we compute objective puzzle features and regress our ratings onto such features to provide insight for objective function improvements. Through this iterative improvement process, we demonstrate the importance of the halfway solvability ratio in quality puzzle design. We relate our observations to recent work on tension in puzzle design, and suggest next steps for more efficient puzzle generation.

This paper narrates the basic principle of the computer aided design for car styling and analyzes the current status of building the high-quality surfaces in the computer aided design for car styling and “the basic process model of digital car styling” .to build “the sbasic process model based on CAS digital modeling. It points out the research content and method of the car digital model and provides theoretical basis for the research of the car styling digital model. In the conventional early design of car styling, generally the revision of design schemes consumes much time and energies. Revisions have been continuously made from the initial creative idea to the later clay model before entering into the engineering design. With the rapid development of the computer technology, the digital technology has become the leading one for the car styling development. During the design process, the digital design of car styling has evolved from the rendering into the engineering design. In order to convey the styling idea that expresses in the design sketch in a rapid and accurate way, it requires a clear expression system and based on the system, the digital model is made. Otherwise, even the good modeling technology and the high-quality surfaces become useless without clearly expressing the idea. The computer aided design for car styling is advanced, but there still exist many problems. The paper aims to put forward a rapidly modeling method of high quality car surfaces based on digital modeling and explore its feasibility during the actual application, by analyzing the current status of building the high-quality surfaces in the computer aided design for car styling and the basic process of the computer aided design for car styling and discussing problems existed during the expression of the design, as well as combining other methods of the computer aided design in other fields.

In this paper there are examples showing that AutoCAD (computer-aided design (CAD)) was and still is a powerful tool for technical graphics. Since Autodesk is a pioneer in the market of commercial widely available CAD systems, in this company CAD principles (which can be used by relatively unprepared users), nature and volume of teams, sequence and features of their implementation were developed. Despite the fact that today AutoCAD is only one of many packages, and its use as a training program guarantees not only high-quality training of specialists, but also the fact that the employee can easily switch to another CAD system, intuitively understanding the principles of function. In terms of technical performance, AutoCAD is a complete tool covering the entire spectrum of functions in the field of "Engineering and Computer Graphics" course.

Americans' growing appreciation for excellent landscape design is creating a great need for reputable designers in the residential landscape design industry. Technology affords landscape planners the ability to fill that need with personalized landscape designs through the mail. The use of disposable cameras, overnight mail, computer aided design, computer rendering, telephone, and fax all makes it possible for a designer to acquire a good knowledge of a particular site, quickly design an accurate, high quality landscape design, do several revisions to that design, and give the client a timely return of the design. Southern Living magazine's new department, Custom Landscape Plans, headed by Rebecca Bull, is one example of how this is done. Through a graduate assistantship with Southern Living, I can use these available technologies to design personalized landscape plans all over the south from my office at Clemson Univ. The methods of mail-order landscape design will be discussed in a verbal presentation.

Abstract The modern theory of gearing provides principles of generation for conjugate gear tooth surfaces while computer aided design is a very powerful tool in designing a gear train with conjugate shaped tooth surfaces. It is possible to set up a mathematical model for internal involute spur gears if the theory of gearing and the concept of differential geometry together with computer aided design technique have been applied. The derived mathematical model of internal involute spur gears can be used for computer simulation of conditions of meshing, tooth contact analysis, stress analysis, dynamic analysis, lubricating analysis, and wearing analysis of the gear train. This paper covered the solutions to the following problems : (a) method of generation for internal spur gears with conjugate tooth surfaces; (b) derivation of equations for gear tooth surfaces and their surface unit normals; and (c) computer graphics of generated internal involute spur gears.
