In this study, the application of a systematic plant layout planning (SLP) to assist the optimum design of process areas and locations is proposed. The number of machines and space requirement in pulley factory is determined. The operation process chart, flow of material and activity relationship chart have been investigated. The relationships between machines, operation sections and material flow are used to determine the suitable position of each activity. The SLP method has been employed to design the two alternative plant layouts and compare the performances between new layout and present layout in term of material flow. The new plant layout is modified by moving a disassembly and surface finish that significantly decrease the distance of material flow, so it is effective increasing production.

The problems of physical arrangement for the organizations are relevant when have space and material movements limitations. Reviewing layouts is a way to improve the industrial production process. Therefore, the objective of this present academic work is to propose a layout for an ice cream factory's production, considering analysis of alternatives to increase productivity. The Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) Simplified method was used as the main tool for the construction of the layout proposal. A case study was carried out which investigates a phenomenon within a real context through an in-depth analysis of a study object. The method was used systematically and validated from the fifth step, where a qualitative comparation between the current layout and the alternative submitted. As a result, is achieved an optimized, complete, detailed layout plan that reduces 21,30% of the factory handling cost.

Statistics show that, the unreasonably of a workshop facilities layout has a serious impact on the production efficiency of the workshop. According to the existing most unreasonable problems of the facilities layout in case workshop. Systematic layout planning (SLP) was applied to analyze logistics and non-logistics flow interrelation of the case workshop (table 3 and table 4), and obtained the table of integrated relationship of the operating units (table 5), and combined table 5 and the actual area of the operating units in the case workshop, mapped out the operating unit area correlation diagram (Fig. 2). According to the practical conditions, got two optimized layout plans (Fig. 3 and Fig. 4). The best layout scheme of the workshop was obtained by using the weighted factor method (table 7). The scheme can make the workshop attain the logistics smooth, transport a short route, effectively utilize working room and resource, and improve the production efficiency of the workshop.

In the manufacturing company, an efficient production floor affects the productivity of the company. Thus, a well design production floor layout assists the company to achieve its objectives. In this regard, this study aims to design a new alternative production floor layout for the XYZ manufacturing company. The company facing the facility layout problem (FLP) where their workstation on the production floor was not located based on the activity-relationship. Thus, the company struggles to reduce the distance travel of their workers from one station to another by re-layout their production floor. The Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method was used to determine the best new alternative layout for the company. Subsequently, the AnyLogic simulation software was utilized to test the effectiveness of the layout by using the number of steps as the parameter. As a result, it is found that the total number of steps of workers in the production floor can be reduced from 16,554 steps (in existing layout) to 15,956 steps (in new alternative layout).
