The main factor in the decreasing in the quality of asphalt concrete with time is thehardening of the bituminous binder, which occurs under the influence of high environmentaltemperatures, moisture and oxygen. Considering this, one of the ways to extend the service life ofasphalt pavements isto implement procedures to prevent deterioration of the properties of bituminousbinders, which occurs due to its hardening. To solve the problem of hardening, the use of variousrejuvenators becomes widespread in road maintenance around the world. The aim of the researchwork is to analyze the effect of the domestic rejuvenator Lux «ЕD-L» on the properties of roadbitumen and asphalt concrete made with this binder. The effect of the rejuvenator on the propertiesof bitumen is evaluated in three ways: finding the influence of Lux «ЕD-L» on the properties of theoriginal bitumen; finding the ability to restore the properties of RTFOT-hardened bitumen by addingan additive to the hardened binder; finding the effect on the intensity of hardening by hardening ofbitumen, which includes the Lux «ЕD-L» additive in its composition. In addition, according to thisscheme, it is evaluating the effect of the rejuvenator on asphalt concrete mixtures, which areconditioned according to the method of AASHTO R 30-02. Based on the obtained experimental data,it is found that the modification of the RTFOT-hardened bitumen with Lux «ЕD-L» additive improvesbinder’s properties, which results in the returning of the values of standard quality indicators(penetration, softening point and breaking point temperatures) to the initial level of values quality ofbitumen before hardening. Lux «ЕD-L» additive significantly improves the adhesion properties ofbitumen (both original and aged). Evaluation of the impact of the rejuvenator on the properties ofasphalt mixtures after conditioning confirmed its effectiveness. The properties of asphalt concrete made from mixtures after conditioning, which were treated with the Lux «ЕD-L» additive, accordingto obtained quality indicators is equal to the asphalt concrete with the original bitumen. A field testof the effect of the Lux «ЕD-L» additive on the properties of the asphalt pavement is in process. Theresults of field test will be obtained after 3 and 9 months of operation of the treated road section.

The features of the use of waste foundry sand to obtain secondary products are presented. The properties of the surface of mineral particles of waste molding sand are described. It is shown that on the surface of the particles there is a porous layer capable of increasing the adhesion forces of mineral particles with bitumen in the production of asphalt concrete. It has been established that the modified surface of the waste foundry sand contains up to 40% carbon, which provides an increase in the adhesion force between the mineral particles of the waste foundry sand and bitumen. It has been experimentally proven that the use of waste foundry sand in the composition of asphalt concrete can improve its physical and mechanical properties.

The term “gel”, in the jargon of the plastics film industry, may refer to any inclusion that produces a visible artifact in a polymeric film. Although they can occur in any plastic product, gels are a principle concern in films where they detract from the cosmetic appearance of the product and may compromise its mechanical strength by acting as local stress concentrators. Many film gels are small spheres or ellipsoids less than one millimeter in diameter whereas other gels are fusiform-shaped and may reach several centimeters in length. The actual composition of gel inclusions may vary from miscellaneous inorganics (i.e. glass and mineral particles) and processing additives to heavily oxidized, charred or crosslinked polymer. The most commonly observed gels contain polymer differing from the bulk of the sample in its melt viscosity, density or molecular weight.Polymeric gels are a special concern in polyethylene films. Over the years and with the examination of a variety of these samples three predominant polymeric species have been observed: density gels which have different crystallinity than the film; melt-index gels in which the molecular weight is different than the film and crosslinked gels which are comprised of crosslinked polyethylene.

Aerosol samples were collected in Phoenix, Arizona on eleven dates between July 1989 and April 1990. Elemental compositions were determined for approximately 1000 particles per sample using an electron microprobe with an energy-dispersive x-ray spectrometer. Fine-fraction samples (particle cut size of 1 to 2 μm) were analyzed for each date; coarse-fraction samples were also analyzed for four of the dates.The data were reduced using multivariate statistical methods. Cluster analysis was first used to define 35 particle types. 81% of all fine-fraction particles and 84% of the coarse-fraction particles were assigned to these types, which include mineral, metal-rich, sulfur-rich, and salt categories. "Zero-count" particles, consisting entirely of elements lighter than Na, constitute an additional category and dominate the fine fraction, reflecting the importance of anthropogenic air pollutants such as those emitted by motor vehicles. Si- and Ca-rich mineral particles dominate the coarse fraction and are also numerous in the fine fraction.

The criteria of the coordinate measurements quality at pilot-experimental production based on contemporary methods of quality management system and traditional methods of the measurements quality in Metrology are considered. As an additional criterion for quality of measurements, their duration is proposed. Analyzing the problem of assessing the quality of measurements, the authors pay particular attention to the role of technological heredity in the analysis of the sources of uncertainty of coordinate measurements, including not only the process of manufacturing the part, but all stages of the development of design and technological documentation. Along with such criteria as the degree of confidence in the results of measurements; the accuracy, convergence, reproducibility and speed of the results must take into account the correctness of technical specification, and such characteristics of the shape of the geometric elements to be controlled, such as flatness, roundness, cylindrical. It is noted that one of the main methods to reduce the uncertainty of coordinate measurements is to reduce the uncertainty in the initial data and measurement conditions, as well as to increase the stability of the tasks due to the reasonable choice of the basic geometric elements (measuring bases) of the part. A prerequisite for obtaining reliable quality indicators is a quantitative assessment of the conditions and organization of the measurement process. To plan and normalize the time of measurements, the authors propose to use analytical formulas, on the basis of which it is possible to perform quantitative analysis and optimization of quality indicators, including the speed of measurements.
