Investigation on precision and accuracy of gas chromatography equipped with thermal conductivity detector (GC-TCD) method for the measurement of CO2, C3H8, and CO as pollutant models at different flow rate of helium (He) carrier gas ranging from 17.50 to 36.25 ml/min were conducted. It was found that percentage of relative standard deviation (%RSD) values for both precision an accuracy show an overall gradual decrease as the carrier gas flow rates increased up to 25 ml/min. After that, the %RSD was found to increase with a further increase in the flow rate. These findings indicate that the flow rate of 25 ml/min was found to be the most precise and accurate level among all flow rates tested under experimental conditions of this study. While the %RSD values obtained at all flow rate are given in details. Consequently, our results suggest that the flow rate of carrier gas was a determining parameter for varying the precision and accuracy of the GC-TCD method. Owing to the fact that carrier gas act as a transporter of components of the mixture in the form of vapor or gas through the column, setting of the flow rate of carrier gas should in proper level achieve a precision and accuracy of the GC-TCD method.

Accident Tolerant fuel (ATF) concept was put forward after the Fukushima accident. Among different kinds of ATF, Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated Fuels (FCM) have been paid more and more attention in recent years. SiC matrix is one of the important constituent parts in FCM fuel system, which is sintered from kinds of SiC powders. In this study, SiC nanoparticles were prepared by Fluidized Bed Chemical Vapor Deposition (FB-CVD) method using Hexamethyldisilane (HMDS) as precursor, aimed at reducing the sintering temperature and pressure of FCM-SiC matrix. Experiments of different temperatures with different argon gas ratios were carried out. It was found that good crystal SiC could be obtained from 850°C to 1250°C, under pure hydrogen or H2: Ar=15:1. Different H2 carrier gas flow rate tests were also conducted. With the increase of hydrogen flow rates, the SiC was transformed from 3C-SiC to other types, such as 6H or 15R, but no significant effect was found on particle shape. Based on the characterizations of XRD, SEM and TEM, the results showed the spherical SiC nanoparticles could be obtained as well as 20 nanometers in diameter at the condition of 1150°C, H2: Ar=15:1, under different hydrogen flow rates. Different hydrogen flow rates had little influence on the particle size of SiC nanoparticles.

This paper investigates the influence of carrier gas flow on the external flow field of coaxial powder feeding nozzle. FLUENT software was adopted to establish gas-solid two-phase flow. The simulation of powder stream field under different carrier gas flow was also carried out. Results show that the larger the flow of carrier gas is, the higher the gas flow field velocity at the nozzle outlet is. At the same time, the concentration at the convergence point is lower, and the convergent point is maintained at 0.015 m. Under the condition of 4 L/min, the powder flow convergence is good. When it exceeds 4 L/min, powder spot diameter increases. The experiment of powder aggregation and laser cladding forming were completed, which shows that the forming effect is the best one under the condition of 4 L/min. It is consistent with the simulation analysis results and has a high reference to the optimization of the process parameters of coaxial nozzle.
