✓The authors describe a medial supraorbital craniotomy performed through a medial eyebrow skin incision to approach an epidural abscess located in the medial anterior fossa of the skull. An 8-year-old boy presented with fevers and facial swelling. Imaging demonstrated pansinusitis and an epidural fluid collection adjacent to the frontal sinus. A medial supraorbital craniotomy was performed to access and drain the epidural abscess. The supraorbital nerve laterally and the supratrochlear nerve medially were preserved by incising the frontalis muscle vertically, parallel to the course of the nerves, and dissecting the subperiosteal plane to mobilize the nerves. This approach may be a useful access corridor for other lesions located near the medial anterior fossa.

Introduction. The study was to see whether there were differences in values of facial surface electromyography in subjects of good heath by muscles, age, and sex. Methods. It draws ratio between lower value and higher value (R-LV/HV) and asymmetry index (AI), based on root mean square (RMS) from measurement of facial surface electromyography (sEMG) in 154 people of healthy people (male:female = 70:84) aging between more than 20 and less than 70. Results. For R-LV/HV, it averages 81.70±14.60% on frontalis muscle, 73.74±19.12% on zygomaticus muscle, and 79.72±14.77% on orbicularis oris muscle. With analysis of the AI average was 10.87±10.14% on frontalis muscle, 16.71±14.79% on zygomaticus muscle, and 12.10±10.05% on orbicularis oris muscle. Both values were statistically significant in three parts of muscles as shown. Both of R-LV/HV and AI show no statistically significant difference on age and sex (p>0.05). Conclusions. It could provide basic data for the future diagnosis of facial nerve palsy patients by measuring facial sEMG values for healthy people.

A forehead lipoma is a rare finding in a child, and one that penetrates the underlying layers of muscle and bone to attach to dura has not previously been reported. Two such cases, both in children who underwent uneventful deliveries aided by forceps, are presented. Both lesions were present at birth and, based on clinical findings, were originally thought to be dermoid cysts. Dermoid cysts could not be ruled out with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Histopathology identified fibrofatty tissue consistent with lipoma. Both lesions extended from the subcutaneous tissue through the frontalis muscle and frontal bone to the dura. Given these findings and the history of forceps delivery, the most likely diagnosis is posttraumatic pseudolipoma. This lesion should be considered in the differential diagnosis of congenital lesions of the forehead, particularly if there is a history of forceps delivery or other trauma to the area.

ABSTRACTThe maintenance of intracellular processes like organelle transport and cell division depend on bidirectional movement along microtubules. These processes typically require kinesin and dynein motor proteins which move with opposite directionality. Because both types of motors are often simultaneously bound to the cargo, regulatory mechanisms are required to ensure controlled directional transport. Recently, it has been shown that parameters like mechanical motor activation, ATP concentration and roadblocks on the microtubule surface differentially influence the activity of kinesin and dynein motors in distinct manners. However, how these parameters affect bidirectional transport systems has not been studied. Here, we investigate the regulatory influence of these three parameter using in vitro gliding motility assays and stochastic simulations. We find that the number of active kinesin and dynein motors determines the transport direction and velocity, but that variations in ATP concentration and roadblock density have no significant effect. Thus, factors influencing the force balance between opposite motors appear to be important, whereas the detailed stepping kinetics and bypassing capabilities of the motors have only little effect.

Palpebral ptosis is a condition caused by different congenital and acquired pathologies. Seeing difficulty due to the visual field obstruction, prefrontal headaches due to chronic use of the frontalis muscle in an attempt to lift the eyelids and cosmetic deformity are the main complaints of the patients. The surgical correction of the ptosis can be challenging. According to the preoperative evaluation, the most appropriate technique should be used to maximize the postoperator result. We describe a new surgical approach for severe upper eyelids acquired ptosis consisting in reanimation of both eyelids by using the neighboring active muscle. We considered the patient a good candidate for the new surgical approach we introduce as one time operative procedure. The result was a normal palpebral fissure for both eyes. The advantage of this approach consists in performing one time surgery followed by immediate postoperative mobilization of the upper eyelids which determine the recovery of the upper lids motility by further self-control.

In recent times the stock market is accepted as a tool to measure the economic condition of a nation. It is found that the Indian financial market as highly volatile due to the lower value of rupees in foreign exchange with the dollar. This motivated the researchers to measure the interdependencies of [Nifty 50 future (India), Nikkei 225(Japan), NASDAQ 100 Futures (USA), Dow Jones 30 (USA), SSEC (China), Hang Seng Future (Hong Kong), and FTSE 100 (London)]. The analysis covers monthly stock prices for a period of 10years from April 2008 to March 2018. The measurement of interdependencies is studied through granger causality and correlation after the confirmation of the non-normality of data and stationary of data. The result shows a high degree of correlation between NASDAQ and Dow Jones shows 98.76% followed by 96.89% between Nifty 50 future and NASDAQ. The co-movement result of Nifty 50 future through granger causality states Nifty 50 future can explain the future stock market of Nikkei (Japan) and SSEC (China) and the Hang Seng future (Hong Kong) has a bidirectional movement with Nifty 50 futures. The study is useful for the investors to identify the interdependencies of the indices and understand the movement in a significant manner.

<p>Signs of an aging face beginning at the periorbital region are easily noticeable and may require surgical correction. The hanging of upper eyelids, tired look, and sunken upper eyelids are common symptoms and signs. Most of the described techniques of blepharoplasty for the aging emphasize on the excision of the hanging eyelid skin which will leave patients with long scar. However, eyebrow and eyelid ptosis are common among aging people. Therefore, undertaking only an upper blepharoplasty does not necessarily yield good aesthetic results. This paper describes a modified blepharoplasty technique with limited incision. The operation also includes eyebrow reposition and/or correction of eyelid ptosis that further improve results. An asymmetry of the frontalis muscle could cause asymmetry in the eyelid folds post-operatively. However, botulinum toxin injection may correct this problem.</p>
