Abstract. Conflicts and Solutions in Archaeological Research at Archaeological Research Office of Manado Area. The conflict between local people and the research team of archaeology wastriggered because the people did not understand the importance of archaeological research, in addition to lacking of communication between the two parties. The conflicts in the research areasof Archaeological Research Office of Manado namely happened during the research at Loga Site, Pada Village, Poso, and Leang Tuo Mane’e site in Talaud. This research aimed at mapping the conflict occurring during archaeological researches in working areas of Archaeological Research Office of Manado and inventing the solution so that it is expected that such conflict may not appear in the future. To obtain the data used are observational and interview methods. The conflict mapping was made to see clearly the relations among many parties; therefore, it is possible to identify the beginning of the conflict as well as its solutions. Aside from conflict mapping, communication with the local people is no less important. The research model of archaeology should be changed into multiple perspective model or democratic model.

Governments worldwide are driving initiatives to deploy broadband infrastructure and services. China has topped the world broadband market with the total broadband user base exceeding 320 million (CNNIC, 2009). However, a closer analysis indicates that broadband in China is less advanced in terms of penetration rate, access speed and price. Why China is lagging? Despite the fact that broadband performance and adoption are determined by both non-policy factors and policy factors, the OECD experience shows that smart national broadband policies are the key to broadband success. This chapter reviews and analyzes relevant regulations and government policies pertaining to broadband development in China using a multiple perspective model. The primary goal of this chapter is to examine how various policy factors interplay to affect broadband deployment and performance in the case of China. This research shows that the Chinese approach to broadband development has not produced desirable results. Several factors affect the growth of broadband. The most significant is lack of a detailed national broadband plan with clearly stated goals, performance targets and action plans for implementation. China’s regulatory arrangement and approaches to regulating broadband industry have failed to establish a well functioning and competitive market and to drive high levels of broadband performance, investment and innovation.

An innovative but low-cost mobile phone-based mechanism for e-payment, e-ticketing, and e-identity documents was proposed in an earlier article by Chan [1], who also discussed the business and technical rationales behind the innovation. Albeit it is still yet to see to what extent the mechanism will benefit the real world, it is no doubt an example of a mechanism developed with very minimal funding. In fact, the highest cost was related to its patent applications. Therefore, its development is a typical illustration of inexpensive innovation of ideas as opposed to costly experimentation and instrumentation. Specifically, this innovation, be it substantial or not, was initiated by and founded on multiple-perspective thinking, which had been popularized in educational systems and communities worldwide in recent years despite such thinking’s somewhat arcane philosophical origin. Being a qualitative, applied, industrial article instead of a piece of theoretical work, this article further elucidates the multiple-perspective model underlying the aforementioned innovation in order to exemplify the application of multiple-perspective thinking to innovation management in general. The model explores multiple perspectives as subsumed under the categories of objectives, time, locations, roles, and incidents. Further refining these categories by translating them into individual requirements of the mechanism, it ends up with what it is today. This case study underscores how multiple-perspective thinking can be leveraged as an integral and instrumental part of innovation management.
