Notes on regional urban planning in the face of socio-environmental metamorphoses Abstract The text presents considerations on the inevitability of facing the plural character of the urban context in the path toward the improvement of city planning and management instruments. This perspective points at difficulties stemming from the need to open up to a large number of variables that must be considered and which, if progressively integrated in more flexible territory organization and management programs, may pave the way for increased general public participation in dealing with shared spaces. The appropriation of urban spaces by their populations is considered an indispensable password for successful public urban planning policies.
