Computer games conceptualization and development are processes that have particular features with significant complexity. The life cycle at computer games development should attend the dynamism, the challenge and the opportunities of the game market. Business process management (BPM) pretends to give an alternative perspective of management to the departmental and hierarchical one. Game firm’s business should be seen with an integrated attitude, incentivising employees from different departments to work together in the same process with a common mission and persecuting same objectives. The importance of integrating the strategic level plans and the task level deployment is crucial for increased alignment and so, organizational performance. This can be better done if there is a process strategy definition, which links strategic initiatives with all needs of a process infrastructure. The processes´ standardizing tendency opens the chance to outsource parts of them bringing possible benefits to game firm and customers. The definition of a clear framework at the strategic level allows lower processes description and global business process architecture specification. Other important aspects of business process management approach at computer games industry should include ownership clarification, performance measurement mechanisms and obviously the identification and activation of improvement opportunities. Author elects business processes customization, integration of flows between firm and its supply chain partners and superior user interfaces using specialized workflow tools as being three improvement opportunities at games industry. In addition to those components, three additional extra concepts are considered critical to have a complete understanding of BPM. They are the conscious process management, the macro process management and the centrality of process. This chapter is going to follow these vectors in order to understand possible opportunities powered by BPM to gain competitive advantages in computer game industry.

Digital transformation is no longer a future trend, as it has become a necessity for businesses to grow and remain competitive in the market. The fourth industrial revolution, called Industry 4.0, is at the heart of this transformation, and is supporting organizations in achieving benefits that were unthinkable a few years ago. The impact of Industry 4.0 enabling technologies in the manufacturing sector is undeniable, and their correct use offers benefits such as improved productivity and asset performance, reduced inefficiencies, lower production and maintenance costs, while enhancing system agility and flexibility. However, organizations have found the move towards digital transformation extremely challenging for several reasons, including a lack of standardized implementation protocols, emphasis on the introduction of new technologies without assessing their role within the business, the compartmentalization of digital initiatives from the rest of the business, and the large-scale implementation of digitalization without a realistic view of return on investment. To instill confidence and reduce the anxiety surrounding Industry 4.0 implementation in the manufacturing sector, this paper presents a conceptual framework based on business process management (BPM). The framework is informed by a content-centric literature review of Industry 4.0 technologies, its design principles, and BPM method. This integrated framework incorporates the factors that are often overlooked during digital transformation and presents a structured methodology that can be employed by manufacturing organizations to facilitate their transition towards Industry 4.0.

Business process management is a comprehensive, holistic management approach, aligned with the context that proceeds from globalized economy. The extent to which this approach is present in an organization represents its process management maturity. Process management maturity has drawn attention of authors and, consequently, a lot of maturity models have appeared. These models incorporate elements, which determine the level of organizations’ maturity. Earlier research results indicate that those elements are mutually related and responsible for organizations’ performances. Since those results mostly refer to developed countries, the question is whether conclusions that proceed from them are valid for developing countries too. In order to answer this question, research has been conducted in Serbia. The aim of the research is to discover which maturity model elements represent the weak points of business process management in Serbian organizations, but also to evaluate the dependence of organizations’ performances on process management maturity level. The analysis is based on statistics tools and Simple Additive Weight (SAW) method. Research results indicate that the maturity level of the Serbian economy is not enviable. In addition, results suggest that business performances might be connected to process management maturity, in the sense that higher maturity level means higher performances.

Activities in civil aviation organizations are affected by the growing number of requirements both from organizations’ customers as well as from regulatory authorities. The organizations are therefore encouraged to introduce and maintain an effective management system that will ensure achieving of desired objectives. In the area of continuing airworthiness there is a traditional approach to management represented by developing and maintaining organisation exposition, which is organised in accordance with guidelines provided by regulatory authorities. The expositions are therefore focused mostly on describing duties and responsibilities of organization’s departments instead of identifying processes from their inputs to outputs. We can say that the processes are hidden by organization structure creating barriers between individual departments. The issue described above can be addressed by implementing business process management approach which can be supported by number of software applications enabling the organization to clearly identify and organize its processes, workflow, responsibilities and finally its objectives including regulatory requirements to be met. This article introduces a brief methodology for implementing business process management in continuing airworthiness organizations using a commercially available business process modelling tools. By using the methodology the organization can create clear process documentation which can be distributed to all its employees showing their responsibilities in relation to company objectives and processes. With the business process management fully implemented and the approval of competent authority, the process documentation can supplement or even replace the traditional organization’s textual expositions, operations manuals or internal directives.
