Suppose the thickness of a thin film of a crystal varies periodically like a regular array of surface steps, kinematical intensities of diffracted waves from this crystal are modulated by a shape transform,

ABSTRACTSilicon wafers with and without protective1Ahermil oxide were implanted with oxygen at 150keV with doses 1.6 – 2.0×1018 cm−2. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) were used to study the top silicon layer remaining above the implanted buried oxide. regular array of spheroidal voids filled with oxygen gas was observed only in the samples that were not protected by the oxide. The voids were aligned into individual columns whose crystallographic orientation with respect to the host silicon lattice matched the direction of the implantation. The origin and the kinetics of their formation are discussed.

In this paper we demonstrate chaos, two-tori and limit cycles in a new family of Cellular Neural Networks which is a one-dimensional regular array of four cells. The Lyapunov spectrum is calculated in a range of parameters, the bifurcation plots are presented as well. Furthermore, we confirm the nature of limit cycle, chaos and two-tori by studying Poincaré maps.

Bicrystals of Nb-doped SrTiO3, having tilt angles of 4o~18 o with respect to [001], were prepared by joining two single crystals at 1873 K and then investigated to identify the effect of tilt angle on the grain boundary structure. The boundaries consisted of a regular array of dislocations but the positioning of cores along the boundary was found to be changed from a line to a zigzag as a tilt angle was increased up to 10o. The 14° - tilted boundary exhibited two kinds of boundary region exist at the same grain boundary; (1) the discrete cores region as observed in 4° ~ 10° - tilted boundaries and (2) the randomly oriented region as found in the 18° boundary. Thus it was observed that the structure of low-angle tilt boundary changed from the discrete dislocation structure to the randomly oriented structure as a tilt angle increases. These structural changes at the grain boundaries are considered to be related to a minimization of strain due to the high density of dislocations.

AbstractThe preparation of ordered mesoporous boron nitride by using borazinic precursors as boron nitride source (tri(methylamino)borazine (MAB) and tri(chloro)borazine TCB) and a mesoporous carbon CMK-3 as template is reported. A template elimination performed by hydrogenation allows to obtain an organized porous structure. The X-ray diffraction, TEM and pore size analysis show that the structure of the BN molecular sieves synthesized from CMK-3 consists in a 2D regular array of uniform mesopores of 3.4 nm in diameter.

The ultrastructure of the trochanteral depressor muscle of the oriental rat flea is described. It is shown to be similar to that of the tubular leg muscles of other insects except in the volume and arrangement of the sarcoplasmic reticulum. The sarcoplasmic reticulum occupies approximately 18% of the volume of the muscle fibres. It is in three configurations: a regular array of parallel tubules opposite the A-band, a collar of sacculi involved in the formation of the dyads at the edge of the A-band and a loosely woven arrangement of tubules around the I-band. This tripartite arrangement of the sarcoplasmic reticulum and its large surface area is discussed in relation to the action of the muscle as the main propulsive muscle in the jump of the flea.
