Based on metadata technique, this paper introduced metadata service oriented multi-source heterogeneous information data integration frame for large multi-source heterogeneous information integration management and interconnecting, intercommunicating, interoperability between different heterogeneous information systems. This metadata service oriented frame, benefiting from knowledge base of data warehouse, had 5 layers frame system including resource layer, integration layer, management layer, service layer and customer layer. Metadata service system contained data layer, directory service logic layer, data exchange layer and Web presentation layer. This paper represented that the metadata service was the core of integration frame, and the realization of integration management platform was feasible.

RNPLS&T’s experience in providing open access and developing open archives is discussed. RNPLS&T’s heterogeneous information resources are evaluated; the structure of the inhouse digital resources in 2018 is described, including digitized books in RNPLS&T’s Electronic Archive, employees’ articles, articles in journals published by the Library, articles in the Library conferences proceedings, all hosted by the E-library, and the RNPLS&T’s information systems. The technologies of access to RNPLS&T’s digital resources are characterized, including in-house and commercial ones: access with Summon federated search system, access using Z39.50 and SRU/SRW protocols and access via the National Electronic Library access to the RNPLS&T’s resources, access to RNPLS&Ts E-library metadata using OAI-PMH protocol, etc. Integrated search external services are described. The technology of remote users access to individual subscriptions and licensed databases is specified. The current state of software solutions for server modules of the RNPLS&T’s open archive based on IRBIS64+ ILS is characterized. The goal is to provide users with the extended set of instruments for information retrieval and access to demanded full-text publications, including the external ones.

The paper presents a methodology of an architecture type multi-criteria choice for a system of integrating heterogeneous data required for complex modeling of natural-technical objects. Suggested methodology is based on using linguistic scales for architectures quality particular indicators, as well as methods of decisions verbal analysis and the experiment planning theory for processing results of peer review in the final architectures quality assessment.

Purpose Information resources and services are considered tangible assets which are valuable in decision making. Information can fulfill this function only if it is delivered via effective marketing at the end users’ doorsteps. The evolution of ICT, social media in particular, has created changes in all productive sectors and service-oriented organizations such as libraries. As well as discussing the need and use of social media by libraries for marketing efforts, this paper focuses on understanding the myriad of security implications that may exist.

Based on the analysis of typical scenarios of information servers, the tasks that should be solved when organizing an access control system for distributed information resources are formulated. The possibilities of the Z39.50 technologies as the most suitable for building such a system are considered. Within the framework of this technology, three access control models are discussed, which differ in the degree of integration of information server functions with the Z39.50 technologies. The creation and support of distributed information systems and electronic libraries that integrate heterogeneous information resources and operate in various software and hardware environments requires special approaches to managing these systems. If the resources or data themselves can be managed locally, even for distributed information systems, then the task of managing access to distributed resources cannot be solved within the framework of local administration. The justification of the last thesis can be seen when considering typical scenarios of the information server, which we will describe below
