Since the down hole operational environment is hostile, with serious potential safety hazards, it is necessary to establish a perfect safety monitoring mechanism. As an entirely new communication carrier, the wireless sensor network plays an active role in the safety monitoring of the mine. The sensor node localization technology is the foundation of its application. Its accuracy has a great influence on the effect of the mine shaft wireless communication. In the randomly distributed network, the node localization of the traditional DV-Hop(Distance Vector-Hop) algorithm has more error. In this paper, the original DV-Hop algorithm was improved by optimizing the average skip distance of the anchor node and correcting the accuracy of the hop count between nodes. The results of MATLAB simulation and comparison between the improved algorithm and the original one indicate that the improved algorithm increases the accuracy of the node localization in the mine shaft and which applicable to some extent.
