In view of the benefits of inquiry-based learning and knowledge management (KM) in triggering students’ communication and knowledge construction and the benefits of a flipped classroom in engaging student learning in- and out-of-classroom, this study proposed to integrate inquiry learning and KM into a flipped classroom to cultivate student web-programming learning performance in a higher education setting. Fifty-one university students participated in a web-programming course. The students in the experimental group used the proposed approach, while those in the control group used the conventional inquiry-based flipped classroom approach. The results indicated that integrating KM and inquiry-based approach into a flipped classroom can improve students’ programming skills and code comprehension and help them learn more effectively with better learning achievements.

One of the most important pillars of smart cities is the smart learning environ-ment. This environment should be well prepared and managed to improve the in-struction process for instructors from one side and the learning process for stu-dents from the other side. This paper presents the student’s Engagement, Behav-ior and Personality (EBP) predictive model. This model uses Moodle log data to investigate the influence and the effect of the students’ EBP factors on their per-formance. For this purpose, this paper uses the data log files of the "Search Strat-egies on the Internet" online course in Fall 2019 at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) extracted from Moodle database. The intention of conducting this kind of experiments is of three-facets: 1. to assist in gaining a holistic understanding of online learning environments by focusing on student EBP and performance with-in the course activities, 2. to explore whether the student’s EBP can be considered as indicators for predicting student’s performance in online courses, and 3. to support instructors with insights to develop better learning strategies and tailor instructions for personal learning of individual students. Moreover, this paper takes a step forward in identifying effective methods to measure student’s EBP during the learning process. This may contribute to proposing a framework for the smart learning behavior environment that would guide the instructors to ob-serve students’ performance in a more creative way. All the 38 students who participated in this experiment had compatible statistics and results as the relationship between their Engagement, Behavior, Personality was symmetric with their Performance. This relationship was presented using a group of condition rules (If-then). The extracted rules gave us a straightforward and visual picture of the rela-tionship between the factors mentioned in this paper.

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of social science subjects for equivalence education package B at PKBM Suka Maju Sejahtera, Padang City. This can be seen from the learning strategy provided by the tutor is not good so that it affects the learning outcomes of learning residents. The objectives of the research are: (1) to see the description of the tutor's learning strategy (2) to see the description of the learning outcomes obtained by the learning community; and (3) to find out the relationship between tutor learning strategies and learning outcomes for social studies subjects in equivalence education package B.  This research is classified as quantitative with correlational type. The population in this study were 20 people, the sampling technique was in the form of random sampling and taken as much as 100% or all of those included in the population would be used as a sample of 20 people. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire with the tool in the form of a list of statements. The data were analyzed by the percentage formula and the data processing technique used the rank order formula. The results of this study are: (1) tutor learning strategies at PKBM Suka Maju Sejahtera Padang City are categorized as low. (2) the learning outcomes of social studies subjects are categorized as low. (3) there is a significant relationship between the tutor's learning strategy and the learning outcomes of social studies subjects for equivalence education package B at PKBM Suka Maju Sejahtera, Padang City. It is hoped that further researchers will be able to innovate by examining other variables.

Some students have successfully used goal–setting to maintain academic performance throughout their studies. Behind these successes, they implemented the strategy to the fullest, making their goals more manageable. This study explores the strategies of prospective physical education teachers using goal–setting to maintain academic performance. The research team used an exploratory qualitative approach to compare students’ experiences with good and bad academic reputations in maintaining academic performance through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. There were 11 students involved, both those with good academic reputations and vice versa. Spradley’s taxonomic analysis found that students had to reconstruct their way of learning because of traumatic experiences of academic failure and the economic limitations of the family. Goal–setting ensures that students complete their work on time and are more selective in using the clarity of information in lecturer learning designs. In addition, they reduce their learning challenges by learning and acting according to the assessment rubric, commit to each learning task and responsibility, use feedback to improve learning performance, and ensure all learning task needs by developing self–learning strategies.

Online learning poses challenges that students might never have encountered in a face-to-face learning environment. In learning English, students may confront more challenges as they need both cognitive and metacognitive skills in dealing with the dynamic lessons involving interaction, online exercises, and audio, video and text downloads. The challenges faced in online learning have led students to employ learning strategies to help them learn more efficiently and effectively. This paper examined students’ strategy use in learning English online and the correlation of the strategies with their academic performance in the subject. Using the Online Language Learning Strategy Questionnaire (OLLSQ) to gauge students’ strategy use in the domains of cognitive, metacognitive, resource-management and affective, the findings indicated that all students were high users of OLLS in English online learning with the highest preference for metacognitive as the strategies were helpful to students in planning and organizing their studies. However, there was low correlation between the strategies use and performance. Overall, the strategies have impacted the students positively and helped them to cope with the new learning mode that is different from the traditional learning. It is hoped that the discovery of the strategies could provide some important insights into how students can be more successful in learning online, and help others to achieve their study goals and overcome any challenges confronting them in learning English online.   Keywords: E-learners, Learning strategies, Online learning, Performance
