The Role of Human Resource Policies in Fostering Organizational Success: An Evidence from Bahrain's Construction Sector

Within the corporate world in Asia a tremendous amount of organisational energy is focusing on fulfilling the “social responsibility”. With everyone doing their part of the bit how can organisations create a differentiation for themselves with an impact that will enhance their business is a big question. What is required is strategizing CSR activities and programs in such a way that it gives a competitive edge to the organisation. That is formulating social responsibility strategy to create a blue ocean. And one crucial aspect of this strategy as propounded by the research paper is through HR policies. The research aims at developing a deeper understanding of the role of human resource policies in corporate social responsibility activities in the industrial sector in Bhopal; M.P (India).The study researches the relationship between human resource policies of an organisation, its CSR activities and HR behavioral outcome. Being an exploratory descriptive survey research, it explores the role of HR policies in CSR in the selected five manufacturing organisations and describes the current role being played by the HR department. The research had used the concept of Blue ocean strategy in creating balance between mandatory social responsibility and the business case. The research had significant implications for the organisations to target different CSR stakeholders through HR polices.


The contribution of HRD to any industry for its growth and success cannot be overstated and hence same is the case with construction sector. Simultaneously the role of HRD in regulating pollutants of huge construction projects impacting environment and biodiversity is laudable. If advices and services of HRD are rightly adopted the negative impact on the same can be minimized. In this paper it is emphasized for setting up of alternatives to huge and mammoth construction projects as well as dam hydropower projects for green. Therefore, river environment can be saved for future generations. The involvement of HRD in this area is inseparable. Thus, it has been suggested to policy makers and concerned governments to go for environment friendly designs with the help of HRD for alignment of various departments and better implementation.

Na era industrial, o capital financeiro foi o recurso estratégico utilizado pelas empresas, enquanto que no novo cenário a estratégia é o uso da informação, do conhecimento e da criatividade, sendo considerado o capital mais importante das organizações. Nesse contexto, o presente estudo objetiva abordar informações inerentes à importância das políticas de recursos humanos para o sucesso organizacional. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, utilizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica em base dados científicas, tendo sido selecionados para composição da fundamentação teórica, diversos trabalhos publicados recentemente. As pessoas sendo tratadas como recursos da organização, precisam ser administradas de modo eficiente. Devido ao fato das organizações se tornarem competitiva, convém às empresas readequarem-se, tanto no conjunto de políticas quanto no que diz respeito aos das práticas, conciliando as expectativas do pessoal e da própria organização. Ultimamente as empresas buscam por profissionais criativos, que são capazes de encontrar soluções nas mais diversas situações, fazendo com que a empresa alcance seus objetivos almejados.  In the industrial age, financial capital was the strategic resource used by companies, while in the new scenario the strategy is the use of information, knowledge and creativity, being considered the most important capital of organizations. In this context, this study aims to address information related to the importance of human resource policies to organizational success. To achieve the proposed objective, we used the literature-based scientific data, having been selected for the composition of theoretical basis, several recently published works. People being treated as organizational resources need to be managed efficiently. Because organizations become competitive, it is necessary for companies to reshaping-in both the set of policies and in regard to the practices, reconciling the expectations of staff and the organization. Lately companies look for creative professionals, who are able to find solutions in different situations, making the company achieve its desired objectives.

Importance of Employee Selection is discussed widely by many authors till date. If we believe that the organizational success or failure is dependent on the talent pool of the employees, then we admit that Employee Selection is one of the most important areas of Human Resource Management. Thomas Stone defined Selection as "a process of differentiating between applicants in order to identify (and hire) those with a greater likelihood of success in a job".
