As long as businesses only have one enterprise application or back end application system there is no need to share data with any other system in the company. All data that has to be managed is contained within one back end application system and its database. However, as businesses grow, more back end application systems find their way into their information technology infrastructure managing different specialized business data, mainly introduced due to the growth. These back end application systems are not independent of each other; in general they contain similar or overlapping business data or are part of business processes. Keeping the data in the various application systems consistent with each other requires their integration so that data can be exchanged or synchronized. The technology that supports the integration of various application systems and their databases is called Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technology. EAI technology is able to connect to back end application systems in order to retrieve and to insert data. Once connected, EAI technology supports the definition of how extracted data is propagated to back end application systems solving the general integration problem.

Efficient modeling of the artificial intelligence tools has become a necessity in order to cut down the development and maintenance cost associated with building application systems in the business, industrial and agriculture sectors that are frequently amendable to sudden unexpected environmental and economic conditions changes. This can be accomplished through developing an efficient modeling language which exploits the beneficial features of the emerging object-oriented technology. This research is aimed at reviewing the recent scientific aspects of the research concerning conceptual modeling of fuzzy knowledge-based system, which exhibits a large extent of applicability in last few decades due to its capability to deal with vagueness, uncertainty and subjectivity, those are inherent in real world problems. The most recent researches and applications of fuzzy expert system are surveyed. The existing knowledge modeling techniques are reviewed and the prominent ones are pinpointed. This paper is intended to identify the main and common bottlenecks of the existing knowledge modeling tools to overcome it in developing a reliable conceptual model of fuzzy expert system.

This paper mainly discusses the integration of the enterprises application system based on the Web Services technology. The Web Services technology can realize the system application integration in the enterprise internal system and the different enterprise application systems,it is universal, platform independent, and language independent. set. This makes Web Services to become a new generation integration technology of the enterprise application integration in the Internet environment .

In response to increasing competition and technological advancement, Shanghai Bell Corporation, Limited, a leading telecommunications enterprise located in Shanghai, China, carried out a major initiative to develop its next generation Information Technology/ Information Systems (IT/IS) strategic plan. The initiative was prompted by limitations of its current enterprise application systems where the systems were neither able to keep up with the evolving needs due to organizational change nor satisfy the increasing demands for information sharing and data analysis. This case describes the environmental and organizational context of Shanghai Bell Corporation, and the problems and challenges it encountered in developing an enterprise-wide strategic IT/IS plan. The issues covered include alignment of IT strategy with evolving business needs, application of a methodology to develop the strategic IT/IS plan, and evaluation of strategic planning project success.

Historically, diagrammatic representations of processes have been widely used to effectively communicate complex and interrelated ideas and concepts (Albarn & Smith, 1977; Elder, 1992). Business processes are no exception. As businesses (and consequently business processes) became more complex, the diagram, with its ability to combine “verbal, numerical and visual functions with analytic and associative processes of thought” (Albarn & Smith), became an essential tool in the array of instruments used by business analysts and modelers (Clemen & Reilly, 2001; Davis, 2001; Elder; Howard & Matheson, 1989; Keller & Teufel, 1998; Kirkwood, 1998/2001; Klaus, Rosemann, & Gable, 2000; Kros, 2001; Nuttgens, Field, & Zimmerman, 1998; Scheer, 1999, 2000). In this article, we review a unified approach to the use of diagrams for business process and decision modeling in the context of decision support. Modeling features that can be regarded as relative weaknesses for one class of diagrams (e.g., decision modeling diagrams) are, in fact, the strong points for the other suggested class (e.g., process modeling diagrams). It is therefore natural to expect that a suitable combination of process and decision modeling approaches would increase the power of the resulting diagram as an effective tool for business analysis and modeling.

Using the advantages of integration technique based on Web Services, a CAx/PDM integration framework was constructed to realize the integration of PDM and other application systems. With the framework, the encapsulation of PDM function modules based on .NET Framework was achieved, a dynamic integration method of PDM and CAx systems was provided, the middle format of exchanging data for PDM and other application systems was represented by the XML( Extensible Markup Language) schema to share the information of enterprise application systems. The proposed integration technology can be effectively used to CAx /PDM integration, and meets the manufacturing enterprise's requirement on integrating application system suitably.
