Recently, microstrip antennas are preferred in all areas of wireless communication, due to their advantages such as low volume coverage, light weight, surface compatibility, high cost requirements and easy production etc. The main disadvantage of these antennas is their narrow band performance (~11%). In the literature, there are some wideband microstrip antenna designs. These broadband characteristics are obtained by changing the antenna geometry or by adding new parasitic patches to the antenna elements. In this study, a classical wideband microstrip dipole antenna (MDA) design which can be used in WLAN/WiMAX applications (covering the bands 2.4–2.5 GHz and 2.5–3.5 GHz) is introduced. The proposed antenna has a pair of twisted strip which are placed asymmetrically near the feed of the dipole element with a length of 52 mm (~λ/2). Also a pair of square loop elements is placed on a sublayer. The proposed MDA has a resonance between 2.06-3.72 GHz with a bandwidth of 57%. The antenna has a directive radiation pattern with a gain of 6.49-3.98 dBi.

A multi-band horizontal wide U-slotted patch antenna is proposed for wireless communication. Along with the horizontal wide U-slot, the proposed antenna also consists of four truncated corners along with inset feeding for proper antenna matching. The proposed antenna design has three distinct simulated resonating frequencies i.e., 4.7 GHz, 6.8 GHz and 9.8 GHz having -10 dB return loss band width as 111.1 MHz, 245.1 MHz, 998.6 MHz respectively while measured resonating frequencies are observed as 4.75 GHz, 7.1 GHz and 10.2 GHz having -10 dB return loss band width as 539.1 MHz , 410.6 MHz , 2.0834 GHz respectively . The proposed antenna results are examined using High frequency structure simulator tool and then verified through measured results . Thus, the proposed antenna is applicable for frequency bands like S band, C band and X band .

A mircostrip antenna is designed for multielement antenna coverage optimization in femtocell network. Interference is the foremost concern for the cellular operator in vast commercial deployments of femtocell. Many techniques in physical, data link and network-layer are analysed and developed to settle down the interference issues. A multielement technique with self-configuration features is analyzed here for coverage optimization of femtocell. It also focuses on the execution of microstrip antenna for multielement configuration. The antenna is designed for LTE Band 7 by using standard FR4 dielectric substrate. The performance of the proposed antenna in the femtocell application is discussed along with results.
