This paper presents one application of industrial robots in the automation of renewable energy production. The robot supports remote performance monitoring and maintenance of salinity gradient solar ponds. The details of the design, setup and the use of the robot sampling station and the remote Data Acquisition (DAQ) system are given here. The use of a robot arm, to position equipment and sensors, provides accurate and reliable real time data needed for autonomous monitoring and control of this type of green energy production. Robot upgrade of solar ponds can be easily integrated with existing systems. Data logged by the proposed system can be remotely accessed, plotted and analysed. Thus the simultaneous and remote monitoring of a large scale network of ponds can be easily implemented. This provides a fully automated solution to the monitoring and control of green energy production operations, which can be used to provide heat and electricity to buildings. Remote real time monitoring will facilitate the setup and operations of several solar ponds around cities.

Aiming at the management problem of real-time data created while intelligent solar street lamps working, sectional data acquisition and control system based on internet of things is introduced in the paper. Communication protocol with unified form and flexible function is designed in the system, and communication address is composed of sectional address and subsection address. Three-level data structure is built in the polling algorithm to trace real-time state of lamps and to detect malfunction in time, which is suitable for sectional lamps management characteristics. The system reflects necessary statistic data and exception information to remote control centre through GPRS to short interval expend on transmission and procession and save network flow and system energy. The result shows the system brings improved management affection and accords with the idea of energy-saving and environmental protection.

The advent of smartphone technology has provided us with intelligent devices for communication as well as playing game. Unfortunately, applications that exploit available sensors in the smartphone are mostly designed for people with no physical handicap. This paper presents Mata, a game user interface using eye-tracking to operate and control games running on Android smartphone. This system is designed to enhance user experiences and help motoric impaired peoples in using smartphone for playing games. Development and testing of the Mata system has proven the concepts of eye-tracking and eyegazing usage as unimodal input for game user interface.
