This paper reports the results of a study of total quality management (TQM) adoption practices in family-owned manufacturing firms. Family-owned firms were found more often than other firms to be total “non adopters” of TQM. The study clearly demonstrates that highest family owned firm performance levels are associated with a more holistic and complete TQM adoption pattern.

The purpose of this study was to explre the relationship between total quality management and firm performance, i.e. quality, business and organizational performance in Jordanian private airlines. The design of this study has a quantitative approach. Data was obtained by questionnaire instrument. The respondents of this study are all employees in quality department, maintenance department, human resource department, and operation department. The number of population was 480 employees. Random sampling was used in the study. 340 completed questionnaires were analyzed as a final sample. Three hypotheses have been developed through literature review and tested using descriptive statistical analysis performed by SPSS. The results show that total quality management practices have a positive and significant impact on business, quality, and organizational performance in Jordanian private airlines. The study reports that effective implementation of total quality management practices results in enhancing airline performance. The major limitation of this study is that the study asked for perceived data about actual TQM practices and performance measures, but the respondents might have given desired data, which made their companies sound good, most of the respondents were non managers and from different departments in addition to the quality department, who might not understand to answer the questions accurately. Another limitation was that business performance tenets were measured by using one question per each tenet. Future research may investigate those TQM practices and performance measures in another Jordanian industry.

This research aims is to investigate soft TQM, hard TQM and quality service variables have mediating effect on relationship between role talent and firm performance. This research conducted using sample of food and beverage companies in Makassar. The population in this study is Manager or Director, Assistent Manager, Supervisor and Leader. This research indicates when Quality Service variable mediating the relationship between soft TQM, hard TQM to the firm performance, obtained results that soft TQM, hard TQM didn't have an indirect effect toward the firm performance or in the other words, quality service variable failed to function as intervening variable that mediate the influence of soft TQM, hard TQM to the firm performance, so it's a type of no mediation. For soft TQM, hard TQM variables that mediate relationship between role talent with quality service, it's a type of full mediation. So it can be concluded that role talent variable have an indirect efect toward the firm performance.

Background Measuring body weight of under-five children is oneof the Family Nutritional Improvement Program or UsahaPerbaikan Gizi Keluarga (UPGK) activities which was integratedin Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) activities. Growthmonitoring and promotion (GMP) has been used as the maincomponent of the health and nutritional program in severaldeveloping countries. Unfortunately, this activity did not run asexpected. This study aimed to understand how quality assurance/total quality management (QA/TQM) influence the performanceof the GMP.Methods This 6 month operational research included 76 Posyandusin four subdistricts of Jogyakarta Province. The results of thePosyandus’s GMP score performance were used as a basis toimprove the performance for the next consecutive months withQA system. Data were transformed as a score index. Student’s t-test was used to analyze the data. Results The quality assurance could increase the performance ofGMP, which was done in Posyandus intervention group for 3consecutive months. The baseline scores for both groups were0.47±0.12 vs 0.42±0.17 (P=0.302), at the second monthmonitoring: 0.58±0.07 vs 0.42±0.16, for the intervention group(P<0.001). The mothers’ index (percentage of the children underfive attendance and mothers who brought KMS at weighingsession), however, did not significantly change. Conclusion Total quality management increased the generalperformance of Posyandus, but the program could not influencethe mothers’ index.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and total quality management (TQM) on the performance of small- and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. Design/methodology/approach Frameworks for describing EO and TQM derived from the literature were reviewed and used to develop a questionnaire. The hypothesized relationships of this model are tested with the data collected from 121 manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by using AMOS. The approach has been directed toward justification of EO and TQM strategy for its support to competitive manufacturing in the context of Indian manufacturing industries. Findings The results indicate that EO plays an influential role on the adoption of TQM strategy, and also has a direct effect on firm performance (FP). The results also indicate that the significance of the direct effect of EO on FP is reduced when the indirect effect of EO through TQM is included in the total effect model. Firms with higher level of EO will be more successful in adopting TQM strategy, which helps them in developing new capabilities that allow them to achieve better performance. Research limitations/implications The research is cross-sectional in nature and, therefore, it does not permit us to account for the lag between implementation and performance. Second, the performance measures are subjective and may be subject to response bias. Practical implications The study presented in this paper offers entrepreneurs, academics and practitioners a better understanding of the relationship and impact of the EO and TQM on the manufacturing performance. Thus, entrepreneurs and practitioners will be able to make better and more effective decisions about the implementation of TQM practices. Originality/value By linking EO strategy and TQM practices to world-class manufacturing practices and performance in Indian manufacturing SMEs, this research adds a new dimension to study of world-class manufacturing and more generally to the best practices and practice-performance debates. This knowledge is important and unique, because it emphasizes that in addition to quality management practices, which are focused on efficient process management aspects of the organization, EO should also be given equal emphasis, in order to improve manufacturing performance of SMEs.

The prime objective of the current study is to examine the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and FP of manufacturing firms listed in PSX. In addition to that, the mediating role of alliance formation orientation and total quality management in the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and FP of manufacturing firms listed in PSX is also examined. Using random sampling, the final sample appeared as 347. To answer the research questions, we have used PLS-SEM statistical technique. The reason behind using this technique primarily that the aim of current study is to check the weather there is any mediating effect on relations. The second foremost reason of using this technique is that there is no issue if the data is normally distributed or not. Mostly reaches of social science indicates the normality issue in data. So, for such studies PLS is the more appropriate technique, because it can easily handle the abnormal data. The response rate of present study is 63.2% which is significantly high. The survey results have supported the hypothesized results. This study is among the pioneer studies on the issue and will be beneficial for researchers and policy makers.
