This paper presents an assessment of weathering effect to the rock mass structure by studying the joint characteristics of tropically weathered granite. Joint survey was performed by scanline method and the results were analyzed statistically by stereographic projection plots. The overall trend of mean joint spacing followed a sharp decrement from fresh to moderately weathered zone and then a slight increment to highly and completely weathered zones, whereas the overall trend of mean joint trace length showed a gradual decrement over progress of weathering. In addition, the degree of joints inclination and weathering zones revealed an increasing trend in the percentage of horizontal joints from fresh to completely weathered rocks, while no specific relation was found between the numbers of major joint set and different weathering zones. The results of this study may contribute to understanding the behavior and better classification of weathered granitic rock mass as a heterogeneous mass in engineering works.

Rockburst is a sudden disaster that endangers greatly the security of operators and facilities in the production. The problem of rockburst is the most important issues in the underground space. This paper describes the present situation of the disaster at home and abroad ,which includes the conception, classification, intensity classification, mechanism, forecasting, and prenvention. Based on these analysis, This paper summarizes the following questions:Conception and intensity classification of rockburst has not level , its major and minor influencing factors has not compartmentalized; without taking full consideration in the influence of rock mass structure and dynamic action in comprehensive prediction, and there are fewer considerations of it in practical project; Attribute weights of all the factors are always subjectivity, it can not give the mathematical explanation; Study on rockburst mechanism are not enough, It can not exactly prodict when and where occur, can not raise the perfect time to prenvent the disasters. At the end of this paper, it is pointed out that it is the emphasis topic which comprehensive prediction with computer.

The water inrush of the Shangjiawan karst tunnel is used to study the evolution pattern of precursor water inrush information in water-filled caves and to further reveal the matching mode of the information. The three-dimensional numerical method FLAC3D was used to simulate the evolution process of water inrush after damage to a water-blocking rock mass structure in a water-filled cave and to obtain the evolution pattern of precursor water-inrush information caused by the damage. The results show that the multifield response to the characteristic precursor information of the water-inrush pattern after the fracture of the water-blocking rock mass follows the order of stress-field displacement-field seepage-field. Further, the matching pattern of the information shows that the stress field increased first and then decreased, the displacement field always increased, and the seepage field increased first and then decreased.

The factors affecting the TBM tunnel behavior in jointed rock mass is investigated. In the numerical models the concrete segment lining of TBM tunnel is concerned, which is simulated as a tube neglecting the segment joint. And the TBM tunnel construction process is simulate considering the excavation and installing of the segment linings. Some cases are analyzed with different joint orientation, joint spacing, joint strength and tunnel depth. The results show that the shape and areas of loosing zones of the tunnel are influenced by the parameters of joint sets and in-situ stress significantly, such as dip angle, spacing, strength, and the in-situ stress statement. And the stress and deformation of the tunnel lining are influenced by the parameters of joint sets and in-situ stress, too.

Collapse is one of the major geological disasters all over the world and threats to life and property safety of people. To make a better understanding of the reason it occurs and how to deal with it, the Kim-Yun-Mine collapse is researched. There are one dangerous rock mass and two collapse accumulation body. The basic characteristics of the collapse is described clearly according to the geological exploration data, and the stability of the dangerous rock mass and the collapse accumulated body is analyzed in the way of engineering geology and stereographic projection. At last, we put forward comprehensive control measures based on the results of stability analysis and collapse characteristics.
