Abstract Welding acceptance criteria derived through ECA is typically performed after the detailed design. The design loads, together with pipeline and girth weld material testing data, are inputs to ECA and used to evaluate the pipeline girth weld integrity for determining the criticality of potential weld flaws. With ever increasing challenging environment (deepwater, HP/HT, aggressive fluid composition etc) in the oil and gas field, the fatigue damage and fracture failure may become a serious concern, consequently limiting the productivity of the pipeline fabrication. It is therefore essential to integrate ECA into the design loop to remove the uncertainty and risk to achieve a practically workable fabrication solution. In this paper, a strategy to integrate early ECA into pipeline detailed design phase is presented. A case study in a deepwater subsea channel crossing demonstrates that an early ECA engagement effectively mitigates the significant fatigue and fracture risk and obtains workable welding acceptance criteria for fabrication.

As one aspect of flow assurance considerations, severe slugging control strategy in deepwater riser is related to the safety of production system, therefore it’s of great significance to the development of deepwater oil and gas field. This paper summarizes commonly used severe slugging control methods briefly, then takes certain deepwater oil and gas field as an example to introduce the method of software simulation for making severe slugging control strategy of deepwater riser. Firstly the model is built with basic information such as pipeline route, production profile and fluid composition. Data of typical years is used to simulate flowing conditions to determine whether it’s within slugging zone. To mitigate slugging conditions, choking, gas lift and choking& gas lift combined methods are chosen and simulated based on the oil and gas field characteristics, and according to the results gas lift is suggested as the best solution. Factors such as riser type, gas injection location, and flexible riser depth are analyzed for better gas lift efficiency. Finally hydrate formation risk related to severe slugging is analyzed and the slug catcher size is checked. Based on the introduced software simulation procedure, severe slugging control strategy is made, which will be valuable for deepwater flow assurance design and study.

Internationally the research of low permeability oil reservoir is a difficult point in the exploration and development of oil and gas field. This thesis, based on the research methods of low permeability reservoirs at home and abroad, summaries several major problems encountered in the process of low permeability oil exploration and development under the current technical conditions as well as the corresponding, but more effective technical measures that need to be constantly improved. And that exploration and development of low permeability of the reservoir will be the main battle field for some time in the future of oil exploration and development.

To date, the development of the oil and gas industry can be characterized by a decline in the efficiency of the development of hydrocarbon deposits. High water cut-off is often caused by water breaking through a highly permeable reservoir interval, which often leads to the shutdown of wells due to the unprofitability of their further operation. In this paper, the application of straightening the profile log technology for injection wells of the Muravlenkovsky oil and gas field is justified. In the course of this work, the results of field studies are systematized. The reasons for water breakthrough were determined, and the main ways of filtration of the injected water were identified using tracer surveys. The use of CL-systems technology based on polyacrylamide and chromium acetate is recommended. The forecast of the estimated additional oil produced was made.
