A combination of high-pressure single crystal X-ray diffraction and high-pressure SQUID magnetometry has been used to study two oxo-bridged mixed-valent MnIII/MnIV dimers. [Mn2O2(bpy)4](ClO4)3·3CH3CN, (1·3CH3CN; bpy = 2,2ʹ-bipyridine) has been compressed to 2.0 GPa whilst [Mn2O2(bpy)4](PF6)3·2CH3CN·1H2O, (2·2CH3CN·1H2O) could be measured crystallographically up to 4.55 GPa. The PF6 salt of [Mn2O2(bpy)4]3+ has never been reported before while 1 has been reported as a hydrate and in a different crystallographic space group. The application of hydrostatic pressure imposes significant distortions and modifications in the structures of both complexes. In particular, in complex 1·3CH3CN the Mn-Mn separation is reduced by the contraction of some of the Mn-O bond lengths, whilst in 2·2CH3CN·1H2O the Mn-O-Mn bridging angles and the Mn-O bond lengths are substantially unchanged. Interestingly 2·2CH3CN·1H2O also shows a constant contraction in nearly all the Mn-N bonds. The magnetic behaviour of the complexes has been measured up to 0.87 GPa for 1·3CH3CN and 0.84 GPa for 2·2CH3CN·1H2O.

Uniaxial compression tests and hydrostatic tests at pressures up to 27 kbars have been performed to determine operating slip systems in single crystal and polycrystal1ine beryllium. A recent study has been made of wave propagation in single crystal beryllium by shock loading to selectively activate various slip systems, and this has been followed by a study of wave propagation and spallation in textured, polycrystal1ine beryllium. An alteration in the X-ray diffraction pattern has been noted after shock loading, but this alteration has not yet been correlated with any structural change occurring during shock loading of polycrystal1ine beryllium. This study is being conducted in an effort to characterize the effects of shock loading on textured, polycrystal1ine beryllium. Samples were fabricated from a billet of Kawecki-Berylco hot pressed HP-10 beryllium.

This study included the fabrication of    compound (Tl2-xHgxBa2-ySryCa2Cu3O10+δ) in a manner solid state and under hydrostatic pressure ( 8 ton/cm2) and temperature annealing(850°C), and determine the effect of the laser on the structural and electrical properties elements in the compound, and various concentrations of x where (x= 0.1,0.2,0.3 ). Observed by testing the XRD The best ratio of compensation for x is 0.2 as the value of a = b = 5.3899 (A °), c = 36.21 (A °) show that the installation of four-wheel-based type and that the best temperature shift is TC= 142 K  .When you shine a CO2 laser on the models in order to recognize the effect of the laser on these models showed the study of X-ray diffraction of these samples when preparing models with different concentrations of the values of x, the best ratio of compensation is 0.2 which showed an increase in the values of the dimensions of the unit cell a=b = 5.3929 (A °), c = 36.238 (A°). And the best transition temperature after shedding laser is TC=144 K.

On treatment of the [(1,2-C2B9H11)2Co]- ion with naphthalene in presence of AlCl3 a remarkably bridged [8,8'-μ-(CH2-C9H6)-(1,2-C2B9H10)2-3-Co]- ion is obtained as a single isolated compound. The triatomic -CH2-C9H6- bridge is derived from the rearranged naphthalene nucleus. The mechanism of this reaction is obscure but it does resemble the "Electrophile-Induced Nucleophilic Substitution" reported earlier. The structure of the compound was established by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
