Human parechoviruses (HPeVs) are a species in theParechovirusgenus of thePicornaviridaefamily. We report a complete genome sequence of a novel HPeV strain, CH-ZJ1, that was found in an infant with gastroenteritis in Zhenjiang City, China. The complete genome consists of 7,298 nucleotides (nt), excluding the 3′ poly(A) tail; the open reading frame is mapped between nucleotide positions 654 and 7211 and encodes a 2,185-amino acid (aa) polyprotein. The phylogenetic tree obtained for the complete genome of this HPeV strain and the other HpeV strains available in GenBank indicated that CH-ZJ1 is intervenient between HpeV type 4 (HpeV4) and HpeV5. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 3D and VP1 genes reveals two incongruent trees. Recombination detection indicated that CH-ZJ1 might be a recombinant which was produced by more than one genomic recombination event that occurred among HPeV1, HPeV4, and HPeV3 strains.

ABSTRACT A novel human papillomavirus (HPV ICB1) was fully characterized from a skin swab by using a sensitive degenerate PCR protocol combined with next-generation sequencing. The L1 open reading frame of HPV ICB1 shares 70.54% nucleotide homology with its closest relative, HPV164, and thus constitutes a novel human gammapapillomavirus.

ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of the human coronavirus NL63 CN0601/14 strain, first isolated from South Korea. It contains 18-nucleotide discontinuous deletions of the open reading frame 1a (ORF1a) and spike regions. This study will aid in our understanding of the complete genome sequences of isolated coronaviruses in South Korea.

ABSTRACT We report the genetic characterization of a new papillomavirus (HPV_MTS1) isolated and fully cloned from a skin swab. The L1 open reading frame of HPV_MTS1 was 85% identical to its closest human papillomavirus (HPV) type 80, which belongs to the species beta-2 of the genus Betapapillomavirus, hence qualifying it as a new HPV type.

ABSTRACT A novel human papillomavirus genotype was detected in a cervical swab specimen by next-generation sequencing after rolling circular amplification. It was fully cloned and characterized. The L1 open reading frame showed 77% nucleotide similarity with the closest genotype, HPV101, belonging to the gamma-6 species.

ABSTRACT We sequenced the complete genome of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) strain JX/CH/2016. Phylogenetic analysis based on the sequences of the open reading frame 5 (ORF5) gene revealed that this strain belongs to subgenotype IV. This is the first report of the complete genome sequence of PRRSV-IV.

ABSTRACT We present the complete genome sequence of a virus found in raw sewage collected in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pittsburgh sewage-associated virus 1 (PSAV1) encodes one large open reading frame with conserved domains typically found in the Picornavirales order of viruses. PSAV1 is closely related to Biomphalaria virus 2 (BV2).

Malassezia restricta, one of the predominant basidiomycetous yeasts present on human skin, is involved in scalp disorders. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the lipophilic Malassezia restricta CBS 7877 strain, which will facilitate the study of the mechanisms underlying its commensal and pathogenic roles within the skin microbiome.

The hydrogen-utilizing strain Cupriavidus necator H16 (DSM 428) was sequenced using a combination of PacBio and Illumina sequencing. Annotation of this strain reveals 6,543 protein-coding genes, 263 pseudogenes, 64 tRNA genes, and 15 rRNA genes.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emerging opportunistic human pathogen. In this report, we describe the isolation and genomic annotation of the S. maltophilia-infecting bacteriophage Mendera. A myophage of 159,961 base pairs, Mendera is T4-like and related most closely to Stenotrophomonas phage IME-SM1.

ABSTRACT Mycobacterium chimaera is a nontuberculous mycobacterium species commonly found in the environment. Here, we report the first complete genome sequence of a strain from the investigation of invasive infections following open-heart surgeries that used contaminated LivaNova Sorin Stockert 3T heater-cooler devices.
