ABSTRACT Burkholderia gladioli is known to cause respiratory tract infections in cystic fibrosis patients. Here, we describe the annotation of the 38,038-bp genome sequence of Mana, a P2-like phage of B. gladioli. Understanding the genomic characteristics of phages infecting pathogens like B. gladioli can lead to advancements in phage therapy.

ABSTRACT Burkholderia gladioli is a Gram-negative bacterium associated with cystic fibrosis infections. Here, we describe the genome sequence of B. gladioli phage Maja. Maja is most related to another Burkholderia phage, BcepF1, and may be a temperate phage, despite the absence of repressor or integrase homologs in its genome sequence.

ABSTRACT Achromobacter spp. are ubiquitous Gram-negative bacteria, some of which can cause respiratory tract infections in patients with autoimmune disorders and cystic fibrosis. Bacteriophages have therapeutic and biotechnological potential to combat Achromobacter sp. infections. This announcement details the 42.5-kb genome sequence of the temperate Achromobacter xylosoxidans myophage Mano.

ABSTRACT Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that is able to cause various infections, including airway infections in cystic fibrosis patients. Here, we present the complete closed and annotated genome sequence of P. aeruginosa AA2, an isolate obtained early during infection of the respiratory tract of a German cystic fibrosis patient.

Serratia marcescens is an opportunistic pathogen that causes respiratory, urinary, and digestive tract infections in humans. Here, we describe the annotation of Serratia marcescens myophage MyoSmar. The 68,745-bp genome encodes 105 predicted proteins and is most similar to the genomes of Pseudomonas PB1-like viruses.

ABSTRACT Burkholderia cenocepacia K56-2, an opportunistic bacterium for people with cystic fibrosis (CF), belongs to the Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) and is consistently used as a model pathogen. We describe here the closed genome sequence for this strain, which will help advance research in B. cenocepacia biology and omics studies.

Proteus mirabilis as a nosocomial pathogen is often the cause of urinary tract infections. This announcement describes the complete genome sequence of a P. mirabilis myophage named Myduc. Phage Myduc is related to Enterobacteria phage phiEcoM-GJ1, which belongs to a group of myophages with small genome sizes (52,000 to 56,000 bp) possessing a T7-like RNA polymerase.

Human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) is a member of the Paramyxoviridae family, which causes lower respiratory tract infections in neonates and children younger than 5 years. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of HRSV, isolated from a nasopharyngeal swab of a pregnant woman with cardiac complications.

ABSTRACT Burkholderia contaminans SK875 was isolated from the respiratory tract of a pig in the Republic of Korea. Here, we report the genome of B. contaminans SK875, which consists of three circular chromosomes and one plasmid of 8,596,045 bp with 7,727 genes.
