ABSTRACT We report a draft genome sequence of extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi isolated from a returned traveler from Pakistan who developed sepsis. Whole-genome sequencing revealed relatedness to a previously reported outbreak in Pakistan and identified the blaCTX-M-15 and qnrS resistance genes.

ABSTRACT A strain of extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi has caused a large ongoing outbreak in Pakistan since 2016. In Ontario, Canada, 10 cases of mainly bloodstream infections (n = 9) were identified in patients who traveled to Pakistan. Whole-genome sequencing showed that Canadian cases were genetically related to the Pakistan outbreak strain. The appearance of XDR typhoid cases in Ontario prompted a provincial wide alert to physicians to recommend treatment with carbapenems or azithromycin in suspected typhoid cases with travel history to Pakistan.

A fast-growing Mycobacterium species was cultured from draining, purulent lesions on the caudal abdomen of a 12-year-old male domestic long-haired cat. Whole-genome sequencing identified the organism as Mycobacterium porcinum.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the draft genome sequence of a Clostridium sp. strain isolated from a fecal sample of a 34-year-old adult male in Taiwan. This strain may represent a new bacterium, as suggested by a comparison based on whole-genome sequencing. The genome assembly comprised 6,089,737 bp, with a 45.63% G+C content.

Extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis has become a challenge to the treatment of tuberculosis (TB) in several countries, including Nepal. Here, we report for the first time the draft genome sequence of an isolate of XDR-TB collected in Nepal and describe single-nucleotide variations associated with its extensively drug-resistant phenotype.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa TUEPA7472 is extensively drug resistant (XDR) and is a representative Gram-negative rod that is multiresistant toward 4 classes of clinically relevant antibiotics (4MRGN). The 6.8-Mb draft genome sequence of this strain provides insight into these resistance mechanisms and the potential of the strain to produce virulence factors.

This report describes the draft genome sequence of Weissella viridescens UCO-SMC3, isolated from Helix aspersa Müller slime. The reads were generated by a whole-genome sequencing (WGS) strategy on an Illumina MiSeq sequencer and were assembled into contigs with a total estimated size of 1,612,814 bp.

ABSTRACT Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi with reduced susceptibility to ciprofloxacin is increasingly being reported globally. An outbreak caused by Salmonella Typhi with decreased ciprofloxacin susceptibility has not been reported before in Malaysia. We present here the annotated draft genome of a Salmonella Typhi strain involved in a typhoid outbreak.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. diarizonae serovar 61:k:1,5,(7) strain 1569, alternatively named 14PM0011, which is a common serovar in German sheep that is unrepresented in the databases and considered and described as being host adapted with low virulence.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of an extensively drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolate, 3485_MTB, from Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. The genome sequence is composed of 4,836,003 bp. The genome will provide more data on the genetic variations occurring in local drug-resistant isolates.

Previously, a novel Leptospira strain (BJ3) was isolated from the soil of an ex situ wild animal conservation area in Perak, Malaysia. Molecular identification via whole-genome sequencing confirmed that the strain was Leptospira yasudae . Here, we report the draft genome sequence of L. yasudae strain BJ3.
