Multidrug-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus cause serious human disease worldwide. Bacteriophages offer a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics. Here, we announce the 141,712-bp genome of S. aureus phage Maine. A myophage with 9,019-bp predicted terminal repeats and high similarity to other Staphylococcus phages, Maine falls into the Twort-like group.

May is a newly isolated myophage that infects multidrug-resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a pathogen that is associated with antibiotic-resistant infections in humans. The genome of May has been shown to be similar to that of phage Vi01.

Staphylococcal pathogens, especially multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, are responsible for various clinical infections. Multilocus sequence type 630 (ST630) methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus has been shown to have augmented pathogenicity in humans. In this announcement, we report the complete genome sequence of community-acquired methicillin-resistant strain RJ1267 of Staphylococcus aureus ST630.

Bacteriophage Magnus infects Klebsiella pneumoniae, a Gram-negative pathogen whose multidrug-resistant strains are a public health issue. Here, we describe the annotation of the 157,741-bp Magnus genome and its similarity to other myophages.

ABSTRACT Staphylococcus aureus JH4899, a community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) isolate collected from a patient with systematically disseminated infection, is classified as sequence type 8 and carries the staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec type IVl (SCCmecIVl). It produces TSST-1, SEC, a newly discovered enterotoxin (SE1), and epidermal cell differentiation inhibitor A (EDIN-A). Here, we present the complete genome sequence of the chromosome and a plasmid harboring the se1 and ednA genes.

ABSTRACT Nocardia wallacei is one of the members of the N. transvalensis complex which possess a highly unique susceptibility pattern. Here, we describe the closed complete genome sequence of the multidrug-resistant strain N. wallacei FMUON74, which was obtained using a hybrid approach combining Nanopore long-read sequencing and Illumina and DNBseq short-read sequencing.

Sequence type 1 (ST1) methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) type IV[2B] has become one of the most common community-associated MRSA clones in Australia. We report the complete genome sequence of one of the earliest isolated Australian S. aureus ST1-MRSA-IV strains, WBG8287, isolated from an Indigenous Australian patient living in the remote Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

Proteus mirabilis is a pathogen that has been linked to nosocomial infections. Studies on phages infecting P. mirabilis may provide therapeutics for infections caused by antibiotic-resistant strains of this pathogen. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of a P. mirabilis myophage, Mydo, which is distantly related to Escherichia coli phage rv5.

Here, we introduce the genome of Sebago, a 43,878-bp siphophage that infects Staphylococcus aureus. Sebago carries 70 proteins and is most closely related to StauST398, a Phietavirus.

Klebsiella pneumoniae is a Gram-negative bacterium that is a major cause of nosocomial infections worldwide. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of TK421, a clinical bacteremia isolate containing a hypervirulence plasmid carrying tra-associated conjugation machinery genes. Emergence of conjugative hypervirulence plasmids could portend rapid dissemination of hypervirulence among multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae strains.
