The National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) is a research framework for the nation and for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The NORA Musculoskeletal Health Cross-Sector (MUS) Council focuses on the mitigation of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). Two projects have been chosen by the MUS Council for disseminating existing information on ergonomic assessment methods and interventions. The first project involves collaboration with the AIHA Ergonomics Committee on the latest update of the AIHA Ergonomic Assessment Toolkit. The second project aims to post all-industry information on ergonomic solutions/interventions/guidelines in collaboration with the International Ergonomics Association (IEA). The MUS Council plans on leveraging the collaborative efforts for promoting widespread adoption of evidence-based workplace practices for the prevention of WMSDs.

PEROSH is the Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).The PEROSH vision is that policymakers, workplaces and other stakeholders across Europe areinspired by and use knowledge generated by PEROSH in their efforts to develop innovativeand sustainable workplaces which are healthy and safe. PEROSH comprises 14 nationalresearch institutes from 13 countries on the continent of Europe. Each institute plays a keynational role through their affiliation to government, health and accident insurance systems,or industry and trade unions. The partnership acts collectively to: strengthen cooperation onOSH research and accelerate the generation of knowledge in key areas of OSH; anddisseminate and exchange knowledge and information on OSH issues. In 2019, TheInternational Labour Organization identified that PEROSH has “strong national and regional[European] policy impact”. This paper gives an overview of PEROSH: an introduction to itshistory and strategy; governance and structure; and core activities including the PEROSH JointResearch Programme and the PEROSH international Wellbeing at Work conference series. Itsummarises PEROSH outreach and networking activities at national, European and globallevel. The paper concludes with reflections on the importance of robust scientific evidence tounderpin and inform the actions of stakeholders for a sustainable world of work which ishealthy and safe.

Abstract Purpose Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) focuses on delivering optimal care to (sub)acutely ill older people. This involves a multidisciplinary approach throughout the whole healthcare chain. However, the underpinning evidence base is weak and it is unclear which research questions have the highest priority. The aim of this study was to provide an inventory and prioritisation of research questions among GEM professionals throughout Europe. Methods A two-stage modified Delphi approach was used. In stage 1, an online survey was administered to various professionals working in GEM both in the Emergency Department (ED) and other healthcare settings throughout Europe to make an inventory of potential research questions. In the processing phase, research questions were screened, categorised, and validated by an expert panel. Subsequently, in stage 2, remaining research questions were ranked based on relevance using a second online survey administered to the same target population, to identify the top 10 prioritised research questions. Results In response to the first survey, 145 respondents submitted 233 potential research questions. A total of 61 research questions were included in the second stage, which was completed by 176 respondents. The question with the highest priority was: Is implementation of elements of CGA (comprehensive geriatric assessment), such as screening for frailty and geriatric interventions, effective in improving outcomes for older patients in the ED? Conclusion This study presents a top 10 of high-priority research questions for a European Research Agenda for Geriatric Emergency Medicine. The list of research questions may serve as guidance for researchers, policymakers and funding bodies in prioritising future research projects.
